Office Space

If you’re looking to find me on my St. John’s days, this is the first place you should look – Coffee Matters, my favourite coffee shop and place of business! For the ambiance and strong coffee, it gets my vote every time – even though an overzealous manager got the chain in hot water (so to speak) not too long ago. The owner resolved the issue quickly though, which I’ve learned is the most important thing to do in business, and I’ve never had anything but great service there.

But of course, we’re back in Whiteway for the next few days,  so this will be my office. I like both, but the view is better here! When given the choice, do you prefer to work from home, or get out of the house for a bit?

  1. I find that too much of either gets to me. If I’m stuck in the studio for day on end (as sometimes happens in winter), I crave a chance to work ANYWHERE else, but there are weeks and months that seem to be gobbled up by meetings and such, obliging me to spend more time working out of places like Coffee Matters (it’s my favourite haunt, too!). During periods here I’m here, there and everywhere, I really feel the need to get back to home working. So a balance, a least for me, would be nice.

    1. Yes, the balance is so key. And in so many ways, it’s really a good problem to have – for so many years I had no choice BUT to go into the office (and to be honest, I loved those years too). Right now I am relishing getting the best of both worlds, by going back and forth between the cottages and the city. Part of me is really excited to see how it goes this summer when we’re in Whiteway basically fulltime, but only time will tell! See you around Coffee Matters!
