I always say Newfoundland is a day-tripper’s paradise, especially here on the Baccalieu Trail. Head out in any direction and you’re sure to stumble upon great little communities and great big nature. With the little free time The Berry and I have this summer, we’re trying to do a little exploring ourselves, checking out things on our own Things to Do page (a great resource by the way!). To that end, we recently checked out Old Perlican, a community on the northern tip of the peninsula, a little over an hour’s drive from the cottages. It was a really fun, leisurely day with lots of great scenery. And especially fun for Murphy who found a new place to take a dip! I’d highly recommend it (and guests, please always feel free to ask for recommendations!).

Hi Jerry,
I hope you do well with the cottages and the Inn…an excellent area of a fantastic province, to be sure…I’m a townie with family roots in that side of Trinity Bay…like a lot of people in town, of a certain vintage especially, looking for a tranquil locale not too far from Sin Jawns to put down some ‘roots’…took a day trip ourselves yesterday on the way back from Grand Falls, ended up being only half a day or less what with leaving Grand Falls at almost lunch time and a stopover in Sunnyside (nice but not like the Whiteway-Heart’s Content ‘corridor’)…was hoping to get to see your cottages & the Inn in person but only got to stops in too some ladies making yarns by the craft shop there (in Whiteway, I believe) and then talking to many of the locals and prospecting for a nice piece of land (with or without a structure on it) in Heart’s Delight, which we really liked. But now we’ve got to go again next weekend I guess…what I’d like to do is drop by and see the cottages and the Inn and hopefully then book a day’s getaway at one of the locations…altho the spa and all that sounds glorious I think we’ll lean more towards something (like one of the cottages) that might help us get a feel for getting our own little spot on the salt water there somewhere)…if you’re usually around maybe we’ll see you when we drop by…thanks…
Many thanks, Bryan – we certainly hope so!
