Sunset Sunday: Beautiful Everywhere
Wherever you happen to be, if you can see the sunset, you can take a few minutes to pause and be grateful. I try to do that everyday, whether I’m in Newfoundland, Mexico, or who knows where. This trip has been very rejuvenating for us, after a long and busy year. Everyone needs to getaway here and there. That’s why I’m happy to say that our Whiteway cottages are open all winter (with some great specials), and The Doctor’s House will be opening up soon. And regardless of where this Sunday finds you, please take a minute to look up, see the heavens, and be grateful. God bless.
Budding Saturday: Have a Seat
Sometimes, having a seat is easier said than done. We hear that the weather has been relatively mild since we’ve been away. This picture was actually taken by Newfoundland photographer Bud Vincent a few years ago, but it’s still pretty representative of Newfoundland patios in winter! Havin’ a Time!
Yes sir – we are having a fabulous time in Mexico, enjoying the lovely weather, the local culture, the plus-sized margaritas. Sayulita is a great place, and we’re happy to be here.
But you know we had to check out the local Irish pub – especially since it’s called Murphy’s Irish Pub! And wouldn’t you know it – Newfoundland musicians Dave Whitty and Matt Cooke showed up! What a treat to have a real taste of home, so far from home. Newfoundlanders – we’re everywhere. And we always know how to have a time!

A very happy belated birthday to our good friend, Clifford George. A gentle soul, we can almost hear Mary Poppins singing (‘….feed the birds … toppins a bag ….’) as we write this. Ahhh, there are worse ways to spend a Sunday than this. But, there’s a giveaway that we’re missing home – last night we went to Murphy’s Irish Pub! It’s become a favourite spot of ours. We like to go with friends and talk about Newfoundland. We’ve met a few Newfoundlanders, and lots of Canadians. It’s always nice to be reminded of home!
