Rustic and elegant, The Doctor’s Loft can accommodate up to 200 guests with banquet seating, and up to 360 for cocktails.  To learn more, please see here, and don’t forget to join us at the upcoming Devotion Bridal Show!

And Another Happy Couple!

Wedding at our Newfoundland hotelWhen it rains, it pours, and we’ve had several brides share their stunning wedding photos with us lately. Here’s Samantha and Chris, who got married this past August. Samantha’s parents live just down the road from us – it’s always nice to meet our neighbours! Samantha also works in the tourism industry, and told us The Doctor’s House is the most beautiful place she’s ever seen (we’re blushing, but we concur!).

Wedding couple at our Newfoundland hotelSo thanks again to Samantha for sharing these gorgeous photos, and for sharing a part of your special day with us. Congratulations, and we wish you all the best!

Frosty Festival Coming Soon!

Newfoundland winter festivalJerry raised his family in Mount Pearl, so it has a special place in his heart. And since we’re only about an hour outside Mount Pearl, we know lots of our guests hail from this great city. So here’s a friendly reminder that the Frosty Festival is coming up! Hard to believe it’s in its 33rd year – we remember the first! This year they’ve got lots of great events lined up, including an International Food and Craft Fair, Wine Tasting, and live show with Shanneyganock and The Irish Descendents. Not to be missed! Find all the details here.

Getting Busy on Pinterest!

pinterest page for our newfoundland spaOur Whiteway cottages are open all winter, but of course this season is a little slower for us. Which gives us extra time to turn to things like upping our social media game! To that extent, we’ve been having fun jumping into Pinterest. We have an account for The Doctor’s House, and already it’s so much fun getting involved with all you lovely pinners out there! So if you’re on Pinterst, please follow us. And we’re still on the ‘newbie’ side, so if you have any tips, we’d love to hear them!

Sayulita Sunset

Sunset in MexicoYes, we are still in Mexico! We’re here for a few weeks, so it’s a bit of a working trip – each day finds the The Berry and I putting in a few laptop hours each. But thankfully, we get to enjoy sunsets by the pool. Not too shabby!

Budding Saturday: Just Plain Cute

baby birdWe like to celebrate the best of Newfoundland by featuring beautiful photos taken by local artist Bud Vincent. We’re sharing this one because it’s just so darn cute! Remember that all of Bud’s work is for sale, and you can find more or get in touch on his Facebook page, Hollingside Images. Our winter specials are quite cozy, we’re just an hour outside St. John’s, and we’re open all winter long. And yes, we provide the firewood. Happy Friday!

In particular, we’re looking for Massage Therapists & Aestheticians, for both full time and part time work. Aveda experience is an asset. If that sounds like you, please head over here and fill out an application!

The Grande Seduction

Film set of the grande seduction movieIf you’re like us, you absolutely loved the Grand Seduction, the beloved and well received Canadian movie set in outport Newfoundland. We won’t admit to exactly how many times we saw it in theatres – let’s just say it was more than once! Bud Vincent recently sent this photo he shot in New Bonaventure, Trinity Bay, at the site of the movie. Most of the indoor shots were filmed in this blue building.  Other were taken in Red Cliffe area.

Anyway, it’s another gorgeous picture from Bud, from what he says was a beautiful day. We believe him!
