We’re starting with this beautiful afternoon, a bright home so typical of Newfoundland brightened with fresh snow. Please follow us on Facebook to see more!

Wonderful Winter Wonderland of Whiteway

Whiteway at WinterAhhhh. I never thought it was possible, but Whiteway has actually made me love winter. I’ve always hated all the nasty bits – the shoveling, the bad roads, the shoveling, the cold, the shoveling, the shoveling, the shoveling. But I never opened my eyes to all the beauty that it brings, too. This picture is from last year, but I’m expecting equally brilliant vistas this year.

We’re keeping our Whiteway cottages open all winter long (including The Cranberry!), because we know there’s lot of winter-lovers out there. We’ve got snowshowing and skidooing trails, and fire pits, too – and we provide the wood! And both of our Winter Specials welcome you with hot chocolate, tea and coffee and lots of goodies to make your stay even cozier – please check them out!

Jerry’s Hollywood (Almost!) Debut

Ok so maybe it’s not Hollywood. But the Baccalieu Trail is better in our opinions, anyway! We were happy to be a part of Eastlink TV’s Discover NL this summer, and here’s the result. Thanks to Legendary Coasts as always for their work, and to Marc Warren, our host and old friend. Nothing makes Jerry happier than talking up the Baccalieu Trail and The Doctor’s House, so please take a peak and let us know what you think!

Shag Rock: The Beholder

Shag rock as seen from our Newfoundland cabinsGorgeous takes many forms.  As I recently looked out the window across the bay and see the cloud-crowned hills shining behind Shag Rock, I took what I think is one the most beautiful of the 1000s of shots of I have taken of it.  Shag Rock is magnetic, constantly pulling our eyes and our thoughts. With scenes like this in this beautiful community,  I have finally learned to like winter. It’s a lot harder than our other seasons, of course, but it has its own charms. Especially here in the Wonderful World of Whiteway.

First Snow at The Doctor’s House

First snow at our Newfoundland resort inn and spaGoing back through some recent photos I realized I hadn’t shared this photo, from our first snow of the season at The Doctor’s House. It was taken last weekend, and it’s really gotten us in the Christmas spirit. A little snow and a LOT of The Berry’s magic touch with Christmas decorations is a sight to see. And remember, The Doctor’s House is only open til December 20, so come enjoy it while you can!

A Great Deal on Newfoundland Art for the New Year!

newfoundland artAnyone who follows our blog knows that we think Bud Vincent is one of the best Newfoundland photographers out there. He takes brilliant photos of our gorgeous province, and has generously shared many over the years on this blog and on our Ocean Delight site. You can see some of his pictures here.

So we’re excited to share the news that Bud has put together a fun package for the new year, to make it easier for you to bring Newfoundland art into your inbox – and your home! You know how expensive it can be to have high quality Newfoundland art often is. Bud’s making it a a lot cheaper and a lot more fun to have highly personalized art in your home. Here’s the deal:

Monthly Photos: Once a month for a year, Bud will send you, via e-mail, one HIGH RESOLUTION quality photo image (in colour, unless you request black and white). That’s 12 high resolution quality images for $20.  You’re paying $1.65 a month for gorgeous images that you can easily print in any size you want. Get creative!

Weekly Photos: Once a week for a year, Bud will send you, via e-mail, one high resolution quality photo. That’s 52 high resolution quality images for just $50.00. At about .96 cents a photo, that’s a deal.

All you have to do is get in touch with Bud and let him know your email and your choice, then forward your cheque, and the excitement begins! Bud will send your first photo immediately. And if you have a specific preference – for animals, scenics, boats, birds, sports, etc – then simply let him know when you place your order.

If for any reason you are not satisfied, Bud will refund you the full amount and you can keep all the photos you’ve already received, no questions asked.

Bud’s sure and we’re sure that you’ll love getting your new photos each week or month. Because they are high resolution, you can reproduce them as large a size as you wish, then frame them. For the DIY home decorator, Newfoundlander who lives away from home, or anyone looking to make unique gifts, this is a great idea.
