Warm Welcome

Our Home in NewfoundlandAfter a long day in the city recently, this is the view that welcomed us when we got home. Just before dark, with the wild waves lashing the stand outside, ‘home’ has never seemed so cozy, so inviting. It was a count-your-blessings kind of moment, and a grab-your-camera-for-the-blog type of one, too. Shortly thereafter, we had a fire in the store, supper on the stove, and wine in our glasses, ready to enjoy a peaceful evening. You gotta love the Wonderful World of Whiteway!

Shag Rock Sunday

Shag RockSundays we often showoff our beautiful sunsets on the blog, but today it’s just Shag Rock, crisp and clear. As if it could ever be ‘just’ Shag Rock. We’re still having a beautiful fall our here, and we’ve just extended our specials at The Doctor’s House through December, and added some spa specials, too. Hopefully it will allow more people to experience the wonder of this place, the Wonderful World of Whiteway.

Bud Returns!

Newfoundland PhotographyWe love Newfoundland around here, of course, and any photographer that can showcase it well. And we’ve found very few that can do it the justice like Bud (Ed) Vincent. We’ve showcased dozens of his photos here on the blog, but none for awhile. So we’re happy today to share this one, taken a few years ago, in Shoal Harbour (in Clarenville). Like Bud says, you don’t see many boats like these around these days, but it’s always a treat when you do – whether in real life, or captured digitally!

All at Drover’s

Eagle in whiteway newfoundlandHere was a visitor on a recent trip to Drover’s, our local (and awesome) convenience and grocery store. There he was watching us carry our wares back to our car, silent and majestic. We couldn’t take our eyes off him. And we’re pretty sure he was sizing us up, too!

A Birthday Celebration

Guests at our Newfoundland resortGuests celebrating their birthday at our Newfoundland resort inn and spaWe love it when guests share their special occasions with us – big ones, like weddings, of course, but also anniversaries, birthdays, proposals, and reunions are all heightened with a beautiful getaway. So a big Happy Birthday goes out to Charlene, a lovely guest who recently celebrated with us. We’re thrilled that she had a great birthday, and hope she comes back to see us soon!

And while it makes us blush, we had to share her glowing message, sent to us on Facebook. We know we have fabulous staff, and we’d like to pass on a thanks to them, too, for all they do for our guests. And thanks, Charlene, for the very kind words!

Review from our guests

Beautiful Sunday

Shag RockThis is the view from my office, so that even if I have to work on a Sunday, I am blessed. It’s been another eventful week. We’ve extended our popular Date Night Special until December 21, and we’re already getting bookings for the Christmas season. Please remember we’re available for group Christmas dinner and parties, and that it’s always best to book early. And please remember to have a great Sunday!

Welcome, Jerry!

Staff at our Newfoundland cafeWelcome on board to another Jerry with a J! Meet Jerry, who we’ve recently welcomed to our team. That’s him with our fabulous, part-time chef Lori Marsh. We’re so happy to have such a great team, and we’re sure that Jerry is going to fit in swimmingly!

Off to Hollywood!

Jerry off to Hollywood? Not quite, but we are proud to be part of new feature that will be highlighting what’s amazing about the Baccalieu Trail. Which is just about everything! Please stay tuned for more!
