How can you enjoy views like this and not be grateful to be a Newfoundlander? This of course was taken at our property at The Doctor’s House, where we’re busily preparing for Alice’s Tea Party (are you coming? remember – it’s free to the public, but if you want a sit-down tea, there’s charge and please make a reservation), plus a wedding show and more this weekend. We’re also excited to get The Berry back, who has been enjoying some much-deserved downtime with her family. Evening like this make it all worth it – the view’s enough to make you go, ‘aaahhh.’
Time to Relax
We’ve got a busy weekend coming up, with the highly anticipated Alice’s Tea Party, a wedding, plus some more community events on the go, too. So if ever there were a time to relax, now it is! Thankfully, even when we only have a minute or two to spare, there’s lots of beautiful places here to escape to. The Berry has actually been in Ontario of late, visiting her daughter and granddaughter. We’re excited to get her back tomorrow, and get our busy weekend started!
Autumn’s A-Coming!
The nights are getting a little shorter, with a definite crisp in the air. And as much as we love summer, we’re excited! For the warm drinks, the fires, and getting our cozy sweaters out from the back of the drawers. Of course, we have our Fall Specials on, which are always popular. But fall is more than that. It’s a time for slowing down, taking stock, spending longer nights with loved ones. Please let us know in the comments – what’s your favourite part of fall, or do you just miss summer?

This is one of our favourite quotes from Alice in Wonderland, and so true! At least, The Berry and I are a little bonkers for sure! And we’re so excited for Alice’s Tea Party, coming up this weekend! All are welcome, free of charge, to our English gardens at The Doctor’s House, to meet so many of Newfoundland’s best artists. We’ll also be serving a tea (by reservation only, for $25). Rosie, Eweness and the Gang make for a great Trash the Dress, don’t they? We have to admit – ‘trash the dress’ was a new concept for us. But seeing the results has us fully on board! This beautiful couple are Megan and Seth, who joined us recently for this photo-shoot.

It never gets old! Here’s a beautiful shot of the sun setting over Green’s Harbour. We always recommend that our guests come down to the waterfront at The Doctor’s House. There’s a great view from their rooms, of course, but there’s also nothing like getting up close and personal. Happy Sunday.

How truly blessed we are our here on the Baccalieu! We didn’t know what to expect when we packed up and left St. John’s those few years ago, bound for the Wonderful World of Whiteway. What we found is a vibrant and thriving community, with more art and culture than you can shake a stick at (pardon our cliche). Of course, we’re excited about Alice’s Tea Party, and we’ve used this blog to share so many upcoming events. So, mark your calendars for the next – what looks to be a fun evening with Karren Churchill. Bubble Bath by the Sea

Jerry’s so excited about weddings at The Doctor’s House that he’ll do just about anything to spread the word – even if that means donning tux and top hat like he did to the recent Ultimate Bridal Show! We had a great day and got to meet lots of great people.
