This is one of our favourite quotes from Alice in Wonderland, and so true! At least, The Berry and I are a little bonkers for sure! And we’re so excited for Alice’s Tea Party, coming up this weekend! All are welcome, free of charge, to our English gardens at The Doctor’s House, to meet so many of Newfoundland’s best artists. We’ll also be serving a tea (by reservation only, for $25). For more details, please see here, and we hope to see you Sunday from 1-5m!
Trash the Dress at The Doctor’s House!
Rosie, Eweness and the Gang make for a great Trash the Dress, don’t they? We have to admit – ‘trash the dress’ was a new concept for us. But seeing the results has us fully on board! This beautiful couple are Megan and Seth, who joined us recently for this photo-shoot.
These beautiful pictures of course are compliments of our recommended photographers, Allison & Colette Photography – please check out their portfolio, they do great work! Please check our Facebook page, too, for more photos of The Doctor’s House couples – we update there regularly. And a big congratulations to Megan and Seth – from all the crew at The Doctor’s House, two-legged and four-legged alike!
Another Beauty
Here’s to Saturday!
Mark Your Calendars!
How truly blessed we are our here on the Baccalieu! We didn’t know what to expect when we packed up and left St. John’s those few years ago, bound for the Wonderful World of Whiteway. What we found is a vibrant and thriving community, with more art and culture than you can shake a stick at (pardon our cliche). Of course, we’re excited about Alice’s Tea Party, and we’ve used this blog to share so many upcoming events. So, mark your calendars for the next – what looks to be a fun evening with Karren Churchill. Please let us know in the comments if you’ve been to one of Karren’s shows before, and if you’ll be heading to this one!
Bubble Bath by the Sea
Here’s another picture of the stunning Cranberry cottage, this time taken by Dining at The Doctor’s House Chef Cate (and yes, her culinary skills are even better than her photography ones!). We’ve had a request by a lovely guest coming to stay with us this November to share more photos of the rest of the cottage, and we’ll oblige soon. But for now, let us bask in the beauty of a bubble bath by the sea! And don’t forget, our Couple’s Fall Getaway special makes a trip here even more romantic – please check it out!
Dressed to the Nines
Jerry’s so excited about weddings at The Doctor’s House that he’ll do just about anything to spread the word – even if that means donning tux and top hat like he did to the recent Ultimate Bridal Show! We had a great day and got to meet lots of great people. If you’re one of the brides who stopped by, thanks so much for getting in touch, and stay tuned – we’ll be drawing from your names for the big winner soon!
Get Your Kleenex Ready!
Do you remember Patrick & Victoria, the gorgeous couple from Glovertown who got married at The Doctor’s House this summer? Of course, we’d never forget such a sweet couple, which is why we’re so excited to see and share this stunning video, created by Media Magic. Pre-warned – you might need a box of tissues by the end!
Clifford’s Ready for Alice’s Tea Party – Are You?
Newfoundland artist extraordinaire Clifford George is ready for Alice’s Tea Party – are you? We’re so excited that the Whiteway Spring Hare and the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council are bringing the beloved Spring Hare tradition to The Doctor’s House this September, where Alice, and the best Newfoundland artists around, will be heralding an afternoon tea party!
Experience the best of Newfoundland art, including artists, poets and musicians, while you linger in our English gardens, on September 21 from 1-5pm. We’re delighted for another chance to celebrate art and community, and will be looking forward to experiencing the talents of artists J.C. Roy, George Horan, Ilse Hughes, Sylvia Benza, Kathleen Knowling, Sarah Fletcher, Clifford George, Wayne George, and Renee Harnum, poets Dorothy McIntosh-Harvey and Robert Bissett, and musicians Gerry Strong and Fred Humber (phew, that’s a long list!).
All are welcome to this free cultural event. Afternoon Tea will be served between 2-4pm, at $25 per person. To enjoy our Tea, please make a reservation at info@doctorshousenewfoundland.com or by calling 582-2754. We hope to see you there!
Don’t Forget About our Fall Specials!
It’s been a beautiful fall, and we’re pretty confidant it’s going to stay that way! Of course, even when the storms come, when you have a warm place to cuddle up, you almost welcome them. The Berry has come up with some great fall specials, so that more people can enjoy a getaway to the ocean’s edge this fall – we hope to see you soon!
