Mud Dogs

Dogs playing in rural Newfoundland near our cottage rentalsFriday and Murphy may seem like perfect gentlemen, but even their paws (and more) get muddy when they’re out playing in of the many watering holes around the cottages. But they’re so happy when the weather cooperates and we can take them out for a dip, that it’s worth the clean up! Thankfully, we welcome pets at the cottages for a small fee, so lots of dogs come stay with us, and our boys get to make new, fast friends. It’s always fun to chase old sticks with new friends.

Spring Specials

Celebrating Spring at our Newfoundland cottage rentalsA little birdie told us – after all this weather, we’re in for a great spring. At least it will be if you come join us at the cottages! That’s why we’re excited to roll out our Spring Specials. All April and May, stay at any of our cottages and receive a complementary snack and movie basket and bottle of house wine. Or, take advantage our nearby sister property The Doctor’s House and add some luxurious spa packages to you stay. After this winter, you deserve it!

A Reflective Reflection

Sun setting over Shag Rock as seen from our ocean front cottage rentals in NewfoundlandNothing calms me and fills me up like watching the sun set over the ocean. It’s why I’ll always be grateful The Berry and I made the move to the Wonderful World of Whiteway – we have front row seats every night for our own personal showing. On a clear night, with the sun reflecting on the sometimes still waters of the harbour – it’s pure magic.

Thanks, Paul!

Ponies at our newfoundland resort inn and spaWe like to share beautiful Newfoundland photography when we can (we try our best to get great shots, but we’re not artists!). Thanks to our neighbour at The Doctor’s House, Paul Seymour, for sharing this gorgeous shot of our ponies enjoying their lunch and a sunny day. And have a great weekend!

Twilight Hour

Watching the sun set over the Atantic Ocean in St. john'sSo ok, ok, it’s true – we haven’t had the best winter. But when twilight hour strikes, there’s still some magic there! We’re busy here putting together some new Spring specials and packages. Just take a cue from the Little Engine that Could – instead of ‘I think I can, I think I can,’ keep saying ‘I think it’s Spring, I think it’s Spring!’ It’ll start to warm up before we know it!

Beautiful Wedding Photos at The Doctor’s House

Wedding at the doctor's house in newfoundlandWe haven’t hosted any weddings at The Doctor’s House yet – that’s coming up this summer. But last year a few couples came to take their wedding photos with us – it was learning experience for us, and they got to take some gorgeous shots.

Thank you to Krista Cooper, who recently shared these lovely photos taken last summer. Her sister-in-law Janice married Ace Steward last July. These beautiful images were taken by Sally Ledrew and Judi Stone, and while with such a gorgeous couple it would be hard to have anything less than stunning photos, we love how these capture the essence of The Doctor’s House, and how The Doctor’s House adds to their charm. Find more pictures of the happy couple on our Facebook site, and stay tuned, as we hope to share lots more happy wedding photos with you soon!

More Wedding Progress

Wedding construction at our Newfoundland resort inn and spaConstruction on the Big Barn for our upcoming first wedding season at The Doctor’s House continues. This past week was all about interior work. The great workers from Point Contracting are building the complicated roof arches inside the building. We hope they’ll start putting them up next week.

We are working on the electrical and lighting designs now. It’s all coming along!More construction for weddings in Newfoundland

Goodbye Sweet Molly

Devon Rex CatWe’d like to take a break from our usually happy blogging to say goodbye to Molly, our sweet Devon Rex who passed away yesterday morning. We never had her as a kitten, as you see above – we hope that she enjoyed her adult years with us. She we beloved by all of us, including our goldens, and by everyone who met her. She was a rare creature and she will be missed.

If you have pets, you know how they become a part of your family. Below is how we’ll remember her. Pets at our ocean front cottage rentals in Newfoundland

Pink Skies

Shag Rock in NewfoundlandAnother beauteous sunset set over the beautiful Shag Rock, off the shores of the Wonderful World of Whiteway. Captured from our oceanfront cottages. If you want peace of mind (and believe me, no one needs it like I do!) this is the spot. Hope your Sunday is relaxing and reflective – I hope mine will be.
