Worth the Wait

Mitchell and Chantelle get marriedWow. Here’s Mitchell and Chantelle, a sweet couple who got married her last summer. Jennifer of Jennifer Jones Photography recently shared some photos of the day and, again – wow.

We’re always grateful when couples choose to spend their special day with us, and just like everyone else, we’re always excited to see all the photos after. We love how Jennifer captured exactly the right mood, showcasing this beautiful couple and their beautiful wedding. So congrats again to Mitchell and Chantelle, and thanks to Jennifer for sharing – see more photos here!

Wedding at The Doctor's HouseSunset

Sunset Sunday – Thanks, Dave

Sunset at Ocean DelightI take lots and lots of photos, and I like to think that I’ve gotten better over the course of writing this blog. But of course, I know my place in the talent-order, and I can appreciate a beauty when I see it. This picture was taken by Dave, an old colleague, who stayed with us this past summer. He shared this picture with me, and now I’m happy to share it with you, because who doesn’t love a nice sunset shot on a Sunday morning?

Because Presentation Is A Beautiful Thing

Dining At The Doctor's HouseYou might remember Terrie-Lynn, whose daughter, Hailie, formed a special bond with Bridie this summer. Well, I’m happy that Terrie-Lynn also clearly has an eye for photography. Couple that with a chef at Dining at the Doctor’s House who has an eye for presentation, and you have a blog match made in heaven. And don’t forget that our Fall menu is now available (and it’s fantastic), and with the weather cooling down, it’s never been a better time to warm up by the fire, for a ‘multi-course’ evening!

A Little Fog …

fog on shag rock… never hurt anyone! Yesterday was a foggy Friday, but I must admit to liking a grey day here and there. They seem like the perfect opportunity to move a little slower and get some rest – something that I must say we need more of lately. We’ve put in a lot of hard work this busy season, and our staff has, too. A quiet day to rest now and then can go a long way!

Beautiful Memories

Beautiful outdoor weddingBig thanks to Dave Lane, who recently shared these gorgeous photos of his gorgeous wedding to his gorgeous bride, Hedi. It was a beautiful ceremony, with the sun shining bright on their big happy families. Exactly what you want on your wedding day! These photos were taken by Chad Sharpe Photography, and we’re certainly happy to be able to share them here on the blog. Enjoy! wedding at the doctor's house

Moon in the Morning

moon over shag rockWhat a sight to see on a quiet morning. Here in the broad of day I see the moon just over Shag Rock.  What’s next– water on Mars?

Our own lives haven’t been quite so still lately. Lots to do, even though the summer season is winding down. The Berry is working on a great event coming this November (details soon!), and of course we’re always giving tours to potential brides and grooms at The Doctor’s House. What can I say? An Innkeeper’s work is never done!

Instalove

Looks like Kael of @punkodelish is just about as obsessed with sunsets as I am. And clearly, a little better at capturing them! She’s on a Newfoundland trip and it was our privilege to be a part of it. Check out her Instagram account to follow along!

Another Rare Jewel

Admiral's Market in Harbour GraceI’ve been out here on the Baccalieu Trail for years and I’m still finding new gems like this one. The Admirals’ Market is a spectacular little café, gift shop and market. Absolutely a must-visit if you’re in the Harbour Grace area. Run by Denise Bloom and Gloria Best, this place is truly special. Just one more thing to do on the Baccalieu!Admirals' Market sign

This Time Last Week …

at the devotion wedding showWow, this week just flew by, and we’ve been so busy I barely have time to blog about all the things that need to be blogged about! Here’s me and Lindsay at the Devotion Wedding Show last Sunday. Like always, it was a fun event and great to meet lots of brides and grooms (and would-be brides and would-be grooms!). It’s always great to get out of our little bubble and meet new people.

It was Lindsay’s first job, and she was a natural. Just like she’s proven to be a natural as our Wedding Manager Plus. It was great fun to have a booth buddy, especially one in a top hat!

Breakfast in Bed?

Breakfast in BedI don’t care what anyone says. Saturday mornings were made for big breakfasts. That’s why The Berry and I will be including the works in our breakfast baskets, which we’ll be gifting to everyone who stays with us for 2 nights at the cottages this October and November. I make a mean feast of bacon and eggs, I have to say. Which might not be the best meal to eat in bed, but it sure is a nice way to wake up!
