I’ve been out here on the Baccalieu Trail for years and I’m still finding new gems like this one. The Admirals’ Market is a spectacular little café, gift shop and market. Absolutely a must-visit if you’re in the Harbour Grace area. Run by Denise Bloom and Gloria Best, this place is truly special. Just one more thing to do on the Baccalieu!
Wow, this week just flew by, and we’ve been so busy I barely have time to blog about all the things that need to be blogged about! Here’s me and Lindsay at the Devotion Wedding Show last Sunday. Like always, it was a fun event and great to meet lots of brides and grooms (and would-be brides and would-be grooms!). It’s always great to get out of our little bubble and meet new people.
It was Lindsay’s first job, and she was a natural. Just like she’s proven to be a natural as our Wedding Manager Plus. It was great fun to have a booth buddy, especially one in a top hat!
I don’t care what anyone says. Saturday mornings were made for big breakfasts. That’s why The Berry and I will be including the works in our breakfast baskets, which we’ll be gifting to everyone who stays with us for 2 nights at the cottages this October and November. I make a mean feast of bacon and eggs, I have to say. Which might not be the best meal to eat in bed, but it sure is a nice way to wake up!
Here is Mimi being Mimi. She is a wonderful and lovable cat, and we’re lucky to have her in our brood. We know she often visits our nearby cottage guests, staking out the property and keeping an eye on things. We’re lucky that she calls our home, ‘home.’
And she’s lucky that our home seems to be overflowing with warm blankets. If there’s a cat out there that can resist the pull of a cozy corner, I haven’t met it!
We’re proud and happy members of Legendary Coasts of Eastern Newfoundland, and we have been since we started our Ocean Delight journey. They’re a great organization that works with tourism operators to develop a stronger industry and economy through the region.
And we’ve certainly grown with them on our journey, to the point where we were delighted to host our last board meeting at The Doctor’s House. It was an amazing evening, with the most beautiful sunset of the summer, I swear. It was perfectly timed with a tour I gave of the property, which produced all the requisite oohing and aahing.
We also enjoyed a lovely meal, with some nice live music from Neil Simmonds. And all rounded out by some fantastic chats around a beautiful, roaring fireplace.
It made me grateful for all the support we’ve received from our fellow tourism operators – this truly is a collaborative industry that supports their communities. And grateful for the journalists who joined us as part of a familiarization tour – it was a pleasure to meet them all. And grateful for how far we’ve come in so little time. What an evening!

Quick, beautiful post for you today, as The Berry and I are too swamped this weekend to be relied on to put too many legible sentences together! I’m off to the Devotion Show today, and Laurelyn has the Q&A session for Miss Teen Trinity-Conception. So hopefully, you’ll have more time to stop and smell the roses, or stop and enjoy the sunset, more than we do!
We like to send followup emails to guests after they stay at the cottages, thanking them for choosing us. So like they say on Reading Rainbow – we know the Loon and all our Heart’s Delight cottages are great for relaxing, but don’t take our word for it!
