Happy Birthday to Me

vintage photo of birthday in newfoundlandYup, it’s my birthday. Which hopefully means I get to relax a little. And just have a simple blog post to write! This picture wasn’t taken yesterday – it’s me and two oldest, now fully grown daughters. Fortunately or unfortunately, all their early photos were pre-digital, and not many have been scanned. This is one of the few ‘birthday-themed’ pictures I have – so it’s what I’m sharing today! Don’t forget about our new specials at The Doctor’s House (new bookings are a great birthday gift!), and don’t forget to tell me how young I look if you see me today!

A Birthday Celebration

Guests at our Newfoundland resortGuests celebrating their birthday at our Newfoundland resort inn and spaWe love it when guests share their special occasions with us – big ones, like weddings, of course, but also anniversaries, birthdays, proposals, and reunions are all heightened with a beautiful getaway. So a big Happy Birthday goes out to Charlene, a lovely guest who recently celebrated with us. We’re thrilled that she had a great birthday, and hope she comes back to see us soon!

And while it makes us blush, we had to share her glowing message, sent to us on Facebook. We know we have fabulous staff, and we’d like to pass on a thanks to them, too, for all they do for our guests. And thanks, Charlene, for the very kind words!

Happy Birthday Berry!

Painting of the Doctor's HouseYesterday was The Berry’s birthday, so Happy Birthday to her! Laurelyn is the mastermind of just about everything that goes on around here, and we couldn’t do any of it without her. Her birthday gift from Clifford George was this beautiful painting of The Doctor’s House, which she adores. You might remember that Cliff painted this at our recent Alice’s Tea Party. We can’t wait to find the perfect place to hang it.

The Berry’s Birthday

Celebrating a birthday at our newfoundland cottage rentals

We recently celebrated Laurelyn’s 49th (again) birthday.  Her son, Adrian, and I cooked brunch yesterday – waffles, moose sausages, bacon, and ham, and all the fixins. It was quite the meal, as we celebrated family and blessings.

Later we took Murphy, Friday (our new golden retriever!), and Rosie for a walk at The Doctor’s House, again revelling in our many blessings.

We finished the night with dinner at the Shag it – a wonderful place designed by The Berry, and more to celebrate again. We’re quite lucky, and I love when special occasions like birthdays come along to help us stop and reflect a moment on all the important things in life. It’s a great feeling!Birthday celebratings around the bay in Newfoundlanda, Canada

Happy Birthday to Me

My daughter lives on the water here in sunny Victoria. Her balcony lends itself easily to sitting and musing, chatting and drinking wine, all while listening to sea birds, waves, and tourists, and outlasting the setting sun. Which is how I got to spend my birthday yesterday – pure bliss. Purely blessed. On a decked out balcony with homemade molasses birthday cake – too cute.
