Live at the Shag It!

Poster for live music at our cafeBig and fun news (for me at least – I’m sure many of our readers  love Charlie as much as I do, too). We are going to be featuring live entertainment on Sunday afternoons at the Shag It – starting next Sunday July 26 from 1-4 p.m. And first up on the roster is Green Harbour’s own Charlier Crocker.

Charlie Crocker grew up in Green’s Harbour, and he started picking at a guitar when he was around eight years old. He has played professionally with great performers, including Dick Nolan, Glen Simmons, Ron Hynes, the Ducats in St. John’s  here in Newfoundland, and with Johnny Burke & Eastwind, Myrna Lorrie, and the Carlton Showband in Toronto. He has also played on stage with Vince Gill and Gene Watson.

Charlie presently lives in Green’s Harbour with his wife, Dorothy and is still strumming away – and will soon be joining us at the Shag It. He plays a mixture of country and Newfoundland traditional music, and we can speak from experience that he puts on a great show.

There’s no cover charge, but of course tips are welcome. We’re hoping for a big crowd to come out and support live entertainment right here in our community. It should be a time!

The Bays Are Alive (with the Sound of Music)

Meet The Sky Family, a wonderful, gifted family from PEI who share their Bible ministry with their Celtic music. They’re currently touring the island (this weekend will be their last show, in Corner Brook), and they stayed with us while doing a fundraiser in Green’s Harbour for the Acreman Elementary School and Community Playground. They all stayed in the Cranberry – squished would be an understatement, as it normally only  sleeps four, and their group, by the time they showed up, had grown to nine!

Beyond being a great family and their service to the community, they were a real treat to have around, because they kept spontaneously bursting into song and you could hear them everywhere. Thanks to this musical family, the bays were alive with the sound of music!
