Friday and Murphy may seem like perfect gentlemen, but even their paws (and more) get muddy when they’re out playing in of the many watering holes around the cottages. But they’re so happy when the weather cooperates and we can take them out for a dip, that it’s worth the clean up! Thankfully, we welcome pets at the cottages for a small fee, so lots of dogs come stay with us, and our boys get to make new, fast friends. It’s always fun to chase old sticks with new friends.
A Reflective Reflection
Nothing calms me and fills me up like watching the sun set over the ocean. It’s why I’ll always be grateful The Berry and I made the move to the Wonderful World of Whiteway – we have front row seats every night for our own personal showing. On a clear night, with the sun reflecting on the sometimes still waters of the harbour – it’s pure magic.
Sunset Sunday: Very Bright
I think I pulled out my camera at just the right moment this day. The sun is still bright, casting a beautiful glow over the ocean, over Shag Rock, over Whitway, over our cottages. Moments like these, with or without a camera to capture them, I feel truly blessed and lucky to be alive. And grateful that we get to share this beauty with all our guests. And each other.
Thanks, Joe!
If you’ve been to our cottages or even just read our blog a little bit, you know how essential Joe Friday has been to our operation here – the Wonderful World of Whiteway would be a little less wonderful without him! It has always warmed our hearts to see how much our guests love him, too. Take this recent review on Trip Advisor, simply titled ‘Awesome.’ According to this guest, “Upon arrival Joe Friday (who is the jack of all trades) greeted us with his awesomeness! He had the fire going, lights dimmed and popcorn and Hot chocolate waiting for us. My friends and I spent an evening in solitude. This truly is a little piece of heaven. Customer service was excellent and atmosphere was superb! It was Awesome! This place would be top of my list to recommend for anyone!
So while Joe might brag about himself, we sure can! I’ll include a recent comment left in our guest book, below. As always, thanks, Joe, for all your hard work (and if you’d like to see what all the fuss is for yourself, don’t forget about our Stay in and Stay Warm package, which adds all kinds of cozy extras to your stay, now through the end of March!).
Budding Saturday: All Mine!
I particularly enjoyed this sampling from exceptional Newfoundland photographer Bud Vincent. He captures that blue colour so vibrantly. And what a moment! We regularly feed our juncos here at the cottages, and I can confirm – someone needs to teach these birds some manners!
A Light Dusting
I hated winter til moving here to the Wonderful World of Whiteway. A light dusting here by the ocean adds unspeakable charm. Now, maybe after a rough winter or a few snowstorms in I’ll feel differently, but The Berry and I spent this past weekend cozied up in one of our Heart’s Delight cottages, and it was heartwarming and so re-energizing. We went on a hike with the goldens, watched Christmas movies, drank hot chocolate, and didn’t talk about work once. Good for the soul. Now I can’t wait for Christmas!
BOGO at the Cottages!
We think (naturally!) that a stay at our cottages makes a great holiday experience. We’ve got everything you need to relax and catch your breath during the busy season, and you can even cut down your own tree here! That’s why we’re offering a holiday Buy One Night, Get One Night Free special, good for all new bookings until January 4, 2014. You have to make your reservation by Dec.4, though, so don’t wait! For more details, please see here. And if you’d like to be the first to hear about promotions like this in the future, be sure to sign up for our mailing list. Hope to see you soon!
Also, to get in some extra relaxation, remember that we’re a five minute drive from The Doctor’s House, where we’re recently extended our spa packages until June 15, 2014.
Thanks to our new friend, Newfoundland artist Leonard Howlett, for the great photo, showing how beautiful and fun an evening in Heart’s Delight can be, any time of the year!
In My Heart’s Delight
Sometimes, Laurelyn and I like to spend time in our cottages in Heart’s Delight. It’s nice to spend the weekend where our journey began around two years ago. It is hard to imagine we didn’t own these cottages until Nov. 26, 2011. Spending time here, looking out the window, puts it all in perspective. This place is magical and therapeutic – and so worth all the time and energy we give it. Even as we approach the winter months, we’re still so lucky to be able to get out here every chance we get. If you’d like your own magic and therapy, stay tuned and please sign up for our mailing list, as we’ll be sending out a new offer from the cottages soon.
