Lottie

Newfoundland pony and owner in rural Newfoundland

We’re not the only people around with new animals in our barn (Eweness is still doing great – stay tuned for updates!). Clifford also has a new Newfoundland pony, Lottie. She is, without doubt, the nicest looking pony I’ve seen – sleek, elegant, so feminine.  And no wonder – she is Monty’s daughter, actually.  What a beauty she is!

Tuesdays with Murphy: Winter Walk

Walking with our golden retrievers on Newfoundland's walking trailsThere’s always lots to do for fun around the cottages. A little snow doesn’t hurt the great walking trails, especially on a sunny day. Especially when you have a great group to do it with. For me, that means Jerry and The Berry, of course, and also my new brother, Friday. The two-leggeds have to bundle up, of course, but for Friday and me, a little exercise and we’re warm as anything. Don’t we strike a handsome pair bounding down the lane?Golden retrievers for a walk in rural Newfoundland

Walk the Goat

Goat at our Newfoundland InnSome days, The Doctor’s House is so alluring that we take our work and spend our days there. Then it’s always a treat to take what Murphy calls our ‘four-leggeds’ out for a walk. I would never have guessed how friendly goats can be until I met our fabulous Miss Rosie. She was a little intimated of Murphy at first, but now she’s the clear leader, and they enjoy their walks together. She loves being around people and bossing around the other animals, she couldn’t be sweeter, and taking her on walks is always the highlight of the day.Dog and goat play

Tuesdays with Murphy: In the Red Corner

Golden retrievers at our Newfoundland cottagesI love it when Friday gets to sleepover – I get to have a partner in crime. Of course, here, we look like we’re reading to start our boxing match, but no worries – we’d never fight! Really, it was just raining hard the last time we had to go outside. We got drenched in 30 seconds. Thankfully, we’ve got Laurelyn to dry us off, and lots of warm places to cuddle to warm up (another reason to love our Stay In and Stay Warm package).

Tuesdays with Murphy: Poor Molly

Devon Rex in NewfoundlandJoe sent us this picture of sweet Molly, his Devon Rex, recouping after a night in the hospital. She was having a bit of a rough time with what the two leggeds think were digestive problems. Thankfully, she has a new diet, and more than her fair share of love from Joe and Friday to get her better. We’re happy to report she’s on the mend!

Tuesday with Murphy: Friday Chills

Golden Retriever in NewfoundlandSo I know the two leggeds have had a lot to deal with lately, with all the storms, power outages, cancellations, you name it. And I know MY two leggeds have had lots of work to do on top of that (something about staff meetings, promotions, new Valentine’s Day at The Doctor’s House plans, who knows). But I don’t worry about the hustle. I like to take a page from my brother, Murphy’s book – just chill! Because he is one cool dog, and nothing’s going to convince him otherwise!

Tuesdays with Murphy: Snowy Walk

Two golden retrievers on a walk in NewfoundlandWith limited power comes limited blogging. Although, without opposable thumbs, I don’t see what the big fuss is about (I just love the extra cuddles!), Jerry’s given me limited time to write my weekly post. How rude! Anyway, here’s me and Friday enjoying a snowy walk, for what it’s worth!

And a hint if your power-less first weekend of the new year was less than fun: we’ve got a special, second-night-for-$99 offer running through March at The Doctor’s House – it could be just what the doctor ordered!

Mrs. Roosevelt Doesn’t Need Power

Goat in Newfoundland

… But she’s the only one that doesn’t! If you’re reading this, your power needs are in good shape. I thought a little Rosie – oh, excuse me, I mean Mrs. Roosevelt – would be a fun way to kick off a new year of blogging. Thanks to Newfoundland artist, new friend and former guest Leonard Howlett for the beautiful shot of this beautiful little creature. She’s sweet, too.

Tuesdays with Murphy: Happy New Year!

Golden retriever in NewfoundlandHappy New Year from all of us at Ocean Delight, two-leggeds and four-leggeds alike! Here’s Friday, all decked out and ready to party. We’re very excited, of course, as tonight we’ll be hosting our very first New Year’s Eve Special at The Doctor’s House. With a team like ours, and a little direction from me and Friday, I think we’ll do great! Stay tuned to Facebook, as we’ll let you know how it goes there.

The Fridays

golden retriever in newfoundlandSince Joe Friday took Dog Friday under his wing a few months ago, they’ve become fast friends. With a dog as sweet as Friday, it would be impossible not to fall in love. Thanks to Chef Anna Dohey, who has prepared the menu for our gourmet New Year’s Eve feast, for the great shots.
