Happy Fourth of July!

Eagle in WhitewayHappy Fourth of July to all our American guests, past, present and future! I lived several years in the good old USA, and loved just about every American I met. So thankfully, we get lots of visitors from that fine nation each summer.

And – we get lots of eagles here in the Wonderful World of Whiteway, too. So in honour of Independence Day, here’s one captured by our good friend, Albert Legge. You can see some more of his beautiful pictures here, and God Bless America!

All at Drover’s

Eagle in whiteway newfoundlandHere was a visitor on a recent trip to Drover’s, our local (and awesome) convenience and grocery store. There he was watching us carry our wares back to our car, silent and majestic. We couldn’t take our eyes off him. And we’re pretty sure he was sizing us up, too!

Soaring High

Eagle flying near our Newfoundland cafe and cottagesThanks for Jeff and Lori for sharing this stunning photo – it looks like something you’d find in National Geographic, but they actually captured this last week, while boating in front of the Shag It Cafe. We’re hoping that our guests today will get some equally good bird-watching in!

Regal Eagles

If we had a fifth cottage in Heart’s Delight, we could have to call it The Eagle. I’ve never lived in a place where seeing them is such a regular occurrence – especially when we’re out on the boat and can see all the cliffs up close. They’re really something – hard to see one and not loose your breath for a minute. Especially when you know that with their vision, they’re probably sizing you up in close detail!(And a Happy Birthday to LL, too!)

The Eagle Has Landed

So it’s official – our friend Albert Legge is our resident photographer.  If you’ve been following our blog, you may remember that our new neighbour and friend Albert has an eye for photography and often shares his shots with us, like he did with another eagle awhile ago. This big guy visited a few days ago, so Albert whipped out the camera.

This is quite the bird! We shall call him the King of Whiteway, as he looks down on us. We’ve named our 4 Heart’s Delight cottages after local birds – maybe we made a mistake not calling one ‘The Eagle!’

Let the Eagle Soar

Unlike yesterday’s April Fool’s post, I promise that these were all taken in Whiteway recently. But not by me – by our new friend, Albert Legge. Albert is an avid photographer, and his pictures blow me away, so much so that this isn’t the first time I’ve begged to use them in my blog; he really showcases the natural beauty of the Wonderful World of Whiteway!

This beautiful guy (or girl? I can’t tell!) is one of the many creatures that show up on our shores – and as the weather gets warmer I can’t wait for more visitors. Maybe we should have named one of our cottages The Eagle?
