Upcoming Fundraiser for Green’s Harbour Heritage Society

Local Charity posterGet your dancing shoes ready. The Berry and I are both delighted to be working with the Green’s Harbour Heritage Society for a fundraiser coming up this November, and I’m delighted to be able to use our blog to pass along the news.

Saturday, November 21, is going to be rollicking fun time at our Barn Loft, with live music from Jim Payne and Fergus O’Byrne. All food will be prepared and served by volunteers, and a cash bar will also be available. All proceeds will go to the Green’s Harbour Heritage Society, which preserves and protects the historic treasures in our community.

Of course we will also be offering the ‘Date Night to Remember‘ package, which includes gourmet dining, AND special room rates for those wanting a more traditional meal and evening of entertainment at this ‘A Lovely Time of Year’ event. Please call us at 582-2754 for more details!

Don’t Forget – Special Pricing This Friday at The Doctor’s House

Girls night pictureIn case you missed it, I’m helping spread about the word about the upcoming Girls Night Out for the Ronald McDonald House. It’s going to be a fun gala, right here at The Doctor’s House, for a great cause. It’s being run by some great people, who tell us there’s only 5 tickets left. Email us at info@doctorshousenewfoundland.com if you’d like to purchase some.

To encourage our guests to really make the most of their evening (and not worry about a DD!), we thought it would be fun to offer special pricing on our rooms. So, if you come to the girls night this Friday and would like to stay with us for a discount, please get in touch!

And what’s girls night without a spa treatment? At least, that’s what The Berry tells me! We’re offering discounts on treatments before and after this event, too. So again, if you’d like to help out a good cause while also pampering yourself a little (win-win!), this is your opportunity!

Information & Networking Reception

Networking reception for Newfoundland female entrepreneurs 2014We’re excited that the Shag It will be hosting a Networking Reception this coming Monday, in partnership with NLOWE, the Newfoundland & Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs (of which The Berry is a happy member). From 2-4pm on June 2, come on down to learn how this great organization can help you start or grow your business and achieve business success. We’ll be serving refreshments – and the event is free, you just need to register.

We’re doubly excited because this event will also be the book launch for Phyllis Reardon’s new book, Heal Yourself. Phyllis is a local Whiteway-enthusiast and loves the Shag It, and we’re delighted to help spread the word about her great new project. And we hope to see you Monday!

Whiteway Spring Hare Less Than a Week Away!

Whiteway Spring HareAs you can tell from these in-process masterpieces from Whiteway artists Clifford George and Lisa Day, the Whiteway Spring Hare will soon be upon us! This Friday’s Dinner Theatre is already sold out, but 32 artists are lined up to display their work on Sunday’s afternoon of storytelling and poetry-reading. To learn more, see here, or, if you’d like to volunteer Sunday, send us an email and we’ll put you in touch with the organizers.

Thanks to Lisa for the great shots. Stay tuned as we’ll have more to share – so much to do out here on the Baccalieu!Painting for the whiteway spring hare at our Newfoundland cottage rentals

New Year’s Recap

Celebrating New Years at The Doctor's HouseBetween recouping and the weather and power issues, I completely forgot to do a recap of our New Year’s Eve party at The Doctor’s House. We had a great time with great guests, loved our gourmet meal, and enjoyed lots of dancing and fireworks into the night. It was our first big event we’ve hosted – we enjoyed it, learned a lot, and hope to offer more such occasions in the future. Thanks again to our staff and to the guests who came to celebrate with us. And we hope you have a truly blessed New Year.

Thanks to Clifford and Shirley George, who joined us and sent us these lovely photos. Oh, what a night!Guests in NewfoundlnadGuests in NewfoundlandGuests in Newfoundlnad
