Dining at The Doctor’s House Now Even Better

Dining Room at our Newfoundland resort inn and spaWe didn’t think he could top himself, but our Executive Chef Chris Chafe, a culinary wunderkind according to travel writer Janice Nieder, has dreamt up a new summer menu …. and it’s divine. From Pink Peppercorn Dusted Local Sea Scallops to Sesame Seared Duck Breast to Rhubarb Frozen Yogurt with Meringue, Coulis and Macerated Strawberries, nearly everything is lovingly handmade by Chris – and lovingly devoured shortly thereafter. Please see the complete menu here.

We’re happy to announce that we’re now open to the public (by reservation only) – so you don’t need to be a guest at the Inn to enjoy these creations. And we’ve got new, extended summer hours. Please join us from Thursday to Sunday, by calling 709-582-2754 to make  your reservation. And please stay tuned – we’ll opening our fully licensed stone patio soon!

And Happy 4th of July to our American readers – have a great long weekend!

Spring Menu Selections

Fine Dining at our Newfoundland resort inn and spaIt’s the weekend, and that means that Dining at The Doctor’s House is in full swing. Our new Executive Chef Chris Chafe is already making waves with his fantastic new Spring Menu, currently available Thursday through Sunday by reservation. Creatively prepared and elegantly presented, Chris’ dishes have already become huge hits in a short time. Above is his fabulous Roasted Beet Salad, featuring Inn-made ricotta, orange, pickled radish, candied pecans and arugula. Below, Pan Fried Local Cod, with parsnip puree and poached apple, and Herb and Dijon Crusted Spring Lambchops. All too good to pass up – so please call 709-582-2754 to make your reservation!Fine Dining at our Newfoundland Inn and SpaDining at our Newfoundland resort inn and spa

Savour It!

Two chefs in NewfoundlandIf you’re enjoying the 7th Annual Savour, Atlantic Canada’s premier Food & Wine Show , then you’re in for a treat tonight. Our beloved Chef Anna Dohey is pairing up with stellar up-and-comer Chris Chafe (whom you may remember from a previous fabulous weekend) to prepare what we can only imagine will be out-of-this-world – cod and salt beef croqueta, with romesco, pickled vegetables, micro-greens and smoked paprika oil. Can you say yum?

Of course, we’re lucky to have Anna prepare our meals at The Doctor’s House each weekend – so if you can’t make it to Savour, then make sure to check out our weekly menus!

Beginnning to Look A Lot Like You Know What!

Dog Berries at The Doctor's House in NLThis should be a fun weekend at The Doctor’s House, as we begin decorating for our first Christmas there. If The Berry’s previous efforts decorating the Shag It for special events is any indication, it’s going to be quite stunning indeed. If you’d like to hear more about what’s going out here for the holidays (including more on our Spa and Stay Specials we’ve just extended!), please see our newsletter here.

And remember, we’re now offering exquisite gourmet meals there each Friday and Saturday, prepared by the same chef behind Tea Room at the Garden at MUN Botanical Gardens (a favourite of mine for years). To see this weekend’s menu, or learn more info, please see here. And, happy weekend, everyone!
