Congrats, Courtney and Curtis!

wedding at the doctor's houseBoy, do we love the couples that entrust us with their special days. And boy, do we love it when we get to see the photos after.

Here’s Courtney and Curtis, who started a new chapter of their lives this past summer. They were a lovely couple – and as you can see, quite photogenic, as well! These photos come to us from the talented Shayla M. Brown Photography. You can see more photos of their fun, gorgeous day here.

So congrats one again to this new husband and wife team, and best wishes for a long, healthy and happy life together!wedding at the doctor's house wedding at the doctor's house wedding at the doctor's house

If a picture is worth a thousand words, how much is a video worth? Clearly, in this beautiful example, a video is truly priceless.

Here’s Tin Bird Production‘s recent work, featuring Robin and Paul’s wedding. It was a beautiful day, a beautiful wedding, and a truly beautiful couple – and this video captures it all perfectly. Thanks to Tin Bird for sharing, and to Robin and Paul for sharing their day with us. We wish you all the blessings and good fortune possible on your new journey together!

And Congratulations, Nicole and Mark!

wedding couple at The Doctor's HouseA big, hearty congratulations (again!) to Nicole and Mark, who recently got married at The Doctor’s House. We’ve been blessed with dozens of couples this season, and I try my best to get some face time in with each one. I’m not always lucky enough to catch them right after their ceremony, though, like I did here.

This beautiful couple has family here in Newfoundland, and across the pond in the UK, so it was a diverse crowd, and a gorgeous day. We wish them all the best on their new journey together. If you’d like to see more photos, please see here!

2014 Reflections: Love at The Doctors House

Couple gets engaged at our Newfoundland inn and spaWe’re ending our blogging year with reflections on our favourite moments from 2014. And of course, given that this year was the first we offered weddings at The Doctor’s House, our immediate thoughts turned to love! We were so honoured to play a big role in many couple’s journeys this year, from engagement all the way to betrothal and beyond.

First, above you’ll see Bradley proposing to Lisa. This was our first proposal (that we know of!) at The Doctor’s House, and thanks to some help from our Love Fairies (namely, our staff, Rosemary, Heather and Jessica, who decorated their room while they enjoyed spa treatments), it went off swimmingly.

Couple engaged at our Newfoundland cottagesStephen and Kayla also got engaged at The Doctor’s House, and, quite talented, they took and shared some gorgeous photos of their weekend. This picture was snapped on a walk down to the water for a picnic – which is just about the most romantic way we can think of to celebrate an engagement!

Newly engaged couple at our newfoundland cottagesAnd who could forget Danielle and Justin, who got engaged this summer, too. Danielle left us this incredibly sweet message on Facebook: “Was so happy with our stay the other night. what an amazing place, great animals who you can tell are so very loved, such cheery friendly people, and great food. But the lasting memory will always be getting engaged in your barn !! thanks for everything.”

Wedding couple at the doctor's house

Of course, thanks to the hard work of our dedicated team, and thanks to The Berry’s Vision, The Doctor’s House opened its magnificent doors and hosted several weddings this summer. We fell in love with the couples who shared their special days with us, and we’re happy to be able to share some of their lovely photos. Above is Christa and Bhasker. This truly beautiful photo of a truly beautiful couple was taken by MK Photography.

Couple getting married at The Doctor's HouseVictoria and Patrick from Glovertown were another sweet couple we were so excited to meet. Here they are in a carriage headed by none other than Clifford George. Find more pictures of this exquisite day on our blog.

Wedding at The Doctor's House NewfoundlandAnd this picture, amazingly captured on a camera-phone, caused quite the commotion this year. Doesn’t it look like a magazine shot? It’s actually from Danielle and Christan’s wedding, our most recent at The Doctors House. The little girl is their daughter, who is very sweet – not unlike her parents, a beautiful couple that you can’t help but fall in love with. Please see more pics of their gorgeous day on Facebook, but for now, look at that little dress, and those little helpers, and try not to swoon!

A big thank you and congratulations to all the countless couples that have celebrate events and milestones, big and little, with us and with The Doctor’s House this year. We’re looking forward to another busy wedding season, and can’t wait to make more dreams come true.

A Congratulations Are in Order!

Couple gets engaged at our Newfoundland spaHere’s Danielle and Justin, an incredibly sweet couple who recently got engaged at The Doctor’s House – and we couldn’t be happier for them! We’re always thrilled when we’re included in such special moments (and check out that ring!). We wish Danielle and Justin all the happiness in the world and the best of luck on their journey to marriage – and we hope to see them again soon! (And, did you see that ring!).

Thanks to Danielle for sharing her beautiful photos and story – we love getting feedback! Here’s what she told us on our Facebook page: “Was so happy with our stay the other night. what an amazing place, great animals who you can tell are so very loved, such cheery friendly people, and great food. But the lasting memory will always be getting engaged in your barn !! thanks for everything.”

To which we say a hearty thank you, and a hearty you’re welcome, too!

Congratulations, Victoria and Patrick!

The Girls are Back in Town!

Family at our ocean front cottagesThese have been a few happy days for us, as Jerry’s oldest daughter, Adrienne, has been back in town – just 3 and a half years after her last trip home! We’re sure many Newfoundlanders can relate to having kids live away, and therefore understand how excited we are to have her back!

We’re doubly blessed this trip, as she’s brought her best friend (and fourth daughter to Jerry), Katherine, with her. This makes Katherine’s 2nd trip to the island, so she’s an honourary Newfoundlander for sure. Katherine brought the rest of her family, too, so there’s been a big, fun crowd to show around. They even got screeched in at the Shag It.

We’re so used to life out here that it’s refreshing to see everything through the eyes of someone seeing it for the first time. We’re so happy that Adrienne and her good friends joined us, and so happy they had a great time. And hoping to spend as much precious time as we can with them!Newfoundland artist meets guests at our Newfoundland cottage rentals

Our Growing Menagerie – Wecome Mimi and Shadow!

New cats at our ocean front cottage rentalsWe have two sweet little additions to our menagerie – please welcome MiMi and Shadow (or as we refer to them, ‘Me Me and My Shadow’).  We took these semi-wild kittens in from a neighbour who didn’t have space – and they’re slowly getting used to being around people and, in our case, our big, giant Golden Retrievers, Murphy and Friday. They’re playful and cuddly (although we’re more convinced of the latter than they are yet!), young and adapting to their new home, and quickly becoming beloved members of the Ocean Delight family. Shadow even jumped up to join in a nap the other day – hopefully a ‘shadow’ of things to come.

Congratulations Stephen and Kayla!

Couple getting engaged at our Newfoundland resort inn and spaLove is definitely in the ocean air at The Doctor’s House. Already, we’ve had our second engagement (that we know of) – and a big congratulations are in order for Stephen and Kayla. We’re thrilled that they celebrated this momentous occasion with us – and also thrilled that they took such beautiful photos and shared them. Kayla tells us that they took these photos as they walked down to the water for a picnic – which is just about the most romantic way we can think of to celebrate an engagement!Romantic picnic at our Newfoundland resort inn and spaView from our Newfoundland resort inn and spaAnd this was the view from their back-window – hopefully an inspiring one to create lots of memories of a great getaway.
