Here’s a quick post to say that we hope you’re enjoying your long weekend. Here’s a beautiful sunset over beautiful Green’s Harbour at The beautiful Doctor’s House. We’ve been busy this weekend (weekends are always busy – and that’s a very good thing!), and we also have some really great Fall Specials lined up. So here’s to a great (and busy) fall!
A Pony, a Sheep, and a Goat ….
‘A pony, a sheep, and a goat’ …. it sounds like a set-up to a joke, right? Except in this case, the punch line is just that the three animals lay down in their field, happily enjoying each other’s company. All our sweet four-leggeds have turned out to be huge draws at The Doctor’s House, especially since they all love attention from our guests. They truly have the life!
A Perfect Moment at The Doctor’s House
I don’t think Dana could have captured a better moment on an afternoon stroll last weekend at The Doctor’s House if she’d tried. The beautiful sunny skies behind our Inn would have been enough for a lovely shot. Add in the butterfly peacefully catching a breeze, and it’s perfection. And it reminds us to slow down, smell the roses, and watch the butterflies! We love it. And Happy Saturday!
Bridie and The Berry
Everyone leads busy lives these days. We certainly do, as we navigate a new industry, and we know all our friends and colleagues work hard, too. Add in all our devices and on-the-go culture, and it’s hard to unplug! That’s why we love our animals, big and small. They force you to slow down, without your screens and cell phones, and live in the moment while you care for them. Here’s The Berry and Bridie, our Newfoundland pony, going through their evening ritual. It’s truly a blessing!
Special Visitors
Now that The Berry and I have been staying at The Doctor’s Study, a little home on the grounds at The Doctor’s House, we have some new friends – like the beautiful robin who visits us each morning. We now know why she’s such an ardent visitor – she has a sweet little nest to tend to! It’s out on our balcony, so we’re blessed to watch this little family grow right outside our window. And, we now have to keep Friday and and Murphy off the balcony! Stay tuned – if we’re able to get some pictures of the chicks, we’ll surely share!
Moonrise Sunday: Woody Point
The Berry and I enjoyed a small road trip last week, finding ourselves in lovely Woody Point in the lovely Gros Morne, in the lovely Seaside Suites. We came here many moons ago and were inspired to begin our hospitality journey. Now, after a few days relaxation, we’re inspired for another busy – but great – summer season. This shot is blurry, and doesn’t capture the majesty, but serves to remind us of our beautiful nights. Like always, we’ll keep the magic of this moonrise in our hearts.
Last Sleigh Ride of the Season
There are few things in the world more delightful than Clifford out with his Newfoundland Pony, Annie. His wife Shirley sent us these shots from last week, from what they believe will be the last sleigh ride of the season. She reports that the paths have broken down in the woods, and the sun is gaining its power, so it’s time to put the wintertime fun away. But we’re sure these rides were a bright spot in an otherwise dark season! Thanks for Clifford and Shirley for sharing this fun event. And if you’d like to see this sleigh-ride live, then check our this video!
Sunset Sunday: Sheer Beauty
Catch of the Day
Here’s our Events Manager Dana’s husband, proud of the one that didn’t get away! At 16 inches and nearly 2 pounds, this trout is something to write home – or blog! – about. There’s lots of great fishing holes around our cottages and The Doctor’s House – stay with us, and we’ll give you a map to our favourite spots!
SunRISE Sunday
Of course I love sharing gorgeous sunset shots – there’s something so soothing about watching the sun set over the ocean! But lets not forget how peaceful and magical it is at dawn, when the sun just peeks out and begins to warm the earth (however weakly these days). I’m not an artist of a photographer, but I know there’s something special about the early morning light. I always say – there’s beauty everywhere and every day in the Wonderful World of Whiteway!
