Spa Positions at The Doctor’s House
Even on holiday, we’re always thinking ahead, and making sure we’re ready for our best – and busiest – summer season yet. That’s why we’ve added a new employment section to The Doctor’s House website. We’re looking for enthusiastic employees eager to join a good team in a great location with lots of perks. In particular, we’re looking for Massage Therapists & Aestheticians, for both full time and part time work. Aveda experience is an asset. Beautiful sunsets here in Mexico (maybe I’ll share a photo next week!), but nothing like home. Here’s my daughter enjoying the view in Twillingate, on a family trip a few years ago. All that sea and sky – so many similar vistas in our beautiful province. Happy Sunday!

Pony Break
Have you hugged a Newfoundland pony today? Well, at least now you can say you’ve oohed and aahed over one! We’re away on vacation, but we know our beautiful ponies, goat and sheep are all holding down the barn, quite literally, at The Doctor’s House. And our wonderful caretaker Perry is taking good care of them like always. Makes us realize that there’s no place like home!
And Now a Scientic Reason to Enjoy our Sleep In Special!
We’re open all winter, and we have some great, cozy-inducing specials to tempt you. And now science is backing us up! Turns our that cuddling releases oxytotocin, and cuddles that indulge frequently can actually get addicted to each other! Our Sleep In Special lets you do that just that, allotting lots of extra time in the morning for getting addicted! Check in after 1pm, and checkout the next day isn’t until 1pm. It’s the perfect tonic for the sleep deprived, and a great way to add a little partner-addiction to your relationship!

Good Til the Last Drip
As Newfoundland photographer Bud Vincent says, ‘ya gotta love the wintertime.’ And we mostly agree – although today, we’re taking advantage of the slow winter season and heading to Mexico for a few weeks. We’ve shown you how beautiful the Wonderful World of Whiteway gets in the winter, so we’ll definitely be missing out on some charms – but we hope to come back refreshed and ready for another busy Spring!

When a Plan Works
A few days ago I shared my process for building our 4 cats the ultimate playground. And there they are enjoying it a few days later! As they are becoming more familiar with it, they’re becoming more adventurous, too, and and climb up as high as they can to enjoy the heat. Not a bad plan, given the winter we’ve been having!
Winter Wonderland at The Doctor’s House
This photo was actually taken over the Christmas break, although it’s been quite blustery and winter-y lately, too. It’s The Doctor’s House, snowed in and decked out, looking gorgeous as it does every season. I took this photo while on wedding tour with a prospective couple, and of course they fell in love with the place. Everyone does – including us!
