Tuesdays with Murphy: A Dip in the Briny Sea

dog in the atlantic oceanHere I am in Long Point Cove, home of our feathered-friend-inspired cottages (the Puffin, the Loon, the Gannet and the Osprey). Here in the Wonderful World of Whiteway, my fetch-in-the-ocean tastes have become quite refined, and Long Point Cove has become one my favourite spots. A little sheltered, private, right next to cottages I can use to dry off and warm up – it’s a dog’s paradise. Which is why I’m hoping lots of new four-leggeds will take advantage of our current special here at the cottages (pets stay free this June!), so that I can introduce more city dogs to the joy that is stretching your paws in the Atlantic Ocean. They never regret it!

Tuesdays with Murphy: Pets Stay Free This June!

dogs playing at our ocean front cottage rentalsOh boy, oh boy, oh boy – I’m reprising my role as blogger, because I have some very happy news to share. Jerry and The Berry have just announced their summer specials – and top of the the list is a great one: pets stay free all June long, as long as you make a 2 night reservation!

I’m excited about this news on a professional and personal level. Professionally, as ambassador for the cottages, I know that we four-leggeds need getaways as much as the two-leggeds we own. Especially since city dogs really need some time and space to run around, maybe take in one of the many hiking trails around here, or go for a dip in the ocean (chilly, but still my favourite activity!).

And personally, I can’t wait for all the new friends I’m going to be meet! Find more details and all our summer specials here, and if you’re like to to book, please call 1-877-588-2026, email info@oceandelightcottages.com, or make your online reservation here.

Puppy Love

wedding at our newfoundland resortOK, last shot of Renee and Chris – at least for awhile! What can we say – we love our Doctor’s House couples! And here’s just about the cutest candid wedding shot around. Given how many many ‘four-leggeds’ there are in our family, we can certainly relate. Beautifully captured by Sandra-Lee Photography, we love seeing all members of the family included in the special day!

And while we’re on the subject, here’s what Renee recently commented on our Facebook page: “We could not of asked for a better venue or weekend!! Exceeded our every expectation!!!
Thank you for helping create our perfect Wedding Day!!
A true hidden Gem in NL!

We say it all the time, but it is truly us who are grateful, when we’re trusted to play such an important role on such an momentous day. So here’s to many more great weddings this season!

Monkey Goes Outside

Monkey Goes OutsideIt is amazing how much animals are like humans (or humans are like animals, I’m not sure which).  Our growing kitten, Monkey, recently got her first taste of freedom, and it was fun to watch.  She’s always looked longingly at her mother when she goes out. But when the door was finally held opened for her, she needed some convincing.  First she tip-toed,  ever so gingerly, ever so slowly, to the door.  She ventured her nose outside and quickly drew it back as the breeze brushed by and frightened her.

But she put her nose out again and took in the next breeze.  She waited, and in her own time, bolted across the deck and then came back to the door as fast as she had left it.

She then ran out again, to the edge of the deck.  Then back to the window and then back in the house.  It all lasted about 30 seconds.

Finally, a little more confident, she then jumped on the ledge of our deck with a smile on her face thinking of her first excursion into the Wonderful World of Whiteway – she’s gonna make it after all.

What's Out Here?kitten in newfoundland

Tuesdays with Murphy: Sprawled Off

pets at our cottagesIt’s a dog and cat’s life, here in the Wonderful World of Whiteway. There’s always a new guest to meet, a two-legged to entertain, a few sticks to save from the waves of the Atlantic ocean. We only get 4 or 5 naps like this a day, so we have to make the most of them! Here I am with Shadow, reminding you that two pets are better than one (that’s why I hope you take advantage of our pet’s welcome policy here at the cottages and bring some friends for me to play with this summer!). And reminding Jerry and The Berry that sometimes it’s best to let sleeping dogs lie!

Throwback Thursday: Who, Me?

kitten at our cottagesHere’s Monkey when she was a wee bit smaller, pre-surgery and full of mischief. This is her best ‘who, me?’ face. She was a handful then, a handful now, and always all around lovable.

It’s funny. Before moving to the Wonderful World of Whiteway, sure, I’d been around animals, even became attached to a few. But now, I’m surrounded by the little buggers (way more four legged creatures live in my home than two legged ones!). And I couldn’t be any happier. It’s part of the reason why pets are welcome at our cottages. That, and because we know there’s nothing better for a dog owner than to be able to play fetch with Rover on our rocky beaches!

Sunday Morning Sleep In

Sleeping in in NewfoundlandHow do you spend your Sunday mornings? Ours, as you can see, are lazy, and filled with furry things. Sunday mornings were made for sleeping in (that’s why we’ve got late checkout on our Spring Specials), just like Sunday afternoons were made for House of Cards marathons (what I hope to enjoy today), and Sunday evenings were made for good meals with good company and good wine. Here’s to yours.

Dog Heaven

Two goldern retrievers at our newfoundland cottage rentalsWhenever we get a moment, we try to enjoy what our guests enjoy. Like walking along the ocean’s edge. We know that Friday and Murphy certainly enjoy it, too! It really is a dog’s heaven out here, and we’ve got to strong and healthy boys to prove it. Remember that pets are welcome at our cabins for a small fee, and our Couple’s Fall Getaway Package is still on. Maybe Murphy and Friday will getting some company soon!

A Pony, a Sheep, and a Goat ….

Animals at our Newfoundland inn and spa‘A pony, a sheep, and a goat’ …. it sounds like a set-up to a joke, right? Except in this case, the punch line is just that the three animals lay down in their field, happily enjoying each other’s company. All our sweet four-leggeds have turned out to be huge draws at The Doctor’s House, especially since they all love attention from our guests. They truly have the life!

Chillin’

Our animals at our Newfoundland resort inn and spaHere’s Beauty, Eweness and Rosie spending their afternoon like we’re hoping you’re spending your Sunday afternoon – maxing and relaxing! There’s lots going on around here like always, and our menagerie is growing (stay tuned, we’ll share some photos soon of our new four-leggeds), so sometimes these ladies just need their quiet time! We’re working on our Goat Park, so that all our sweet creatures have lots of room on easy street. What a life!
