We’re pretty committed to blogging, and we love when we pop up on other blogs, too! So we were quite happy to see this article on photographer Alex Stead’s page. It highlights the stunning photos she captured, from the stunning wedding, between the stunning Laura and Mike. It was truly a lovely day, and clearly, Alex knows her way around a camera! Please take a peak if you’re considering a trip to The Doctor’s House, and especially if you’re thinking about booking your wedding here!
Another Beautiful Day
Congratulations to the beautiful Bhasker and Christa, who got married at The Doctor’s House this past weekend in a gorgeous ceremony. This picture was taken by MK Photography, and we can’t wait to see more!
Sunset Sunday: Bev’s View
Bev, a fun, recent guest at The Doctor’s House, recently captured this beautiful image of the sun setting over Hopeall Bay. It’s quite stunning, and we’re glad that she shared it with us, so that we can share it with you! If you have any beautiful sunset shots of your own, we’d love it if you’d share with us!
Reason #4581 Why We Love Newfoundland – the Sunsets!
We’re partial to our views in Whiteway and Green’s Harbour, but if you live anywhere in Newfoundland or have visited, you know what we’re talking about. Maybe our weather isn’t always the greatest, maybe the skies not always the sunniest, but in all my world travels, I’ve never seen sunsets, with all the the illuminescent colours, like what we get here. Even artists have never fully captured the beauty, because they’re beyond picture-perfect. We’re truly blessed!
Sunset Sunday – Thanks, Cate
Thanks are in order to Shag It Cafe Executive Chef Cate Dore for sharing all her beautiful photos of our Whiteway view on our Facebook page. An Ontarian, clearly she is enchanted by our Newfoundland sunsets as much as we are – please follow us on Facebook to see more of her shots.
But of course, bigger thanks are in order for all the hard work she puts into the Shag It – it’s been paying off and then some. Her fresh salads are a hit – as is the rest of her ‘real food’ menu. We’re now open Thursday through Monday, with a Senior’s Discount of 10% Fridays and Mondays, so we know she’s working hard. Since we’re new to the restaurant business, we feel truly blessed to have such experienced hands in the kitchen!
Congratulations Stephen and Kayla!
Love is definitely in the ocean air at The Doctor’s House. Already, we’ve had our second engagement (that we know of) – and a big congratulations are in order for Stephen and Kayla. We’re thrilled that they celebrated this momentous occasion with us – and also thrilled that they took such beautiful photos and shared them. Kayla tells us that they took these photos as they walked down to the water for a picnic – which is just about the most romantic way we can think of to celebrate an engagement! And this was the view from their back-window – hopefully an inspiring one to create lots of memories of a great getaway. Congratulations again to this beautiful couple!
Soaring High
Thanks for Jeff and Lori for sharing this stunning photo – it looks like something you’d find in National Geographic, but they actually captured this last week, while boating in front of the Shag It Cafe. We’re hoping that our guests today will get some equally good bird-watching in!
Through the Trees
We often feature photos taken by professional Newfoundland artists here on the blog, to help us showcase the beauty of this province – and the talent of our people. I’m no photographer, but these shot of The Doctor’s House is pretty artistic, right? Taken by yours truly! Although, it’s probably hard to NOT take a beautiful shot out here on the Baccalieu Trail, right?
Spring Has Sprung
We’ve had some beautiful days here lately – sunny, warm but not too warm, no wind. We’ve been treated to beautiful sunsets, flowers bursting forth, birds and bees getting busy with their spring cleaning. Perry was right – it is gorgeous out here this time of year. We’re looking forward to a fun, busy weekend. The Shag It will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11-7pm. We hope to see you out on the patio, enjoying Spring with us!
Whiteway Spring Hare Less Than a Week Away!
As you can tell from these in-process masterpieces from Whiteway artists Clifford George and Lisa Day, the Whiteway Spring Hare will soon be upon us! This Friday’s Dinner Theatre is already sold out, but 32 artists are lined up to display their work on Sunday’s afternoon of storytelling and poetry-reading. To learn more, see here, or, if you’d like to volunteer Sunday, send us an email and we’ll put you in touch with the organizers.
Thanks to Lisa for the great shots. Stay tuned as we’ll have more to share – so much to do out here on the Baccalieu!
