Musicians at The Doctor’s House

Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra at our Newfoundland resort inn and spaOur friend Greg Locke is the official photographer for the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, and when he was looking for beautiful locations for some recent editorial shoots, we knew just the spot! Really, we were all too happy to offer The Doctor’s House, knowing we’d be supporting the arts and getting some stunning photography, too.

These musicians are all professional musicians with the NSO and Master’s students at Memorial University. They quartet is called Strataphoria. They enjoyed their day shooting and playing at our Inn, and we’ve been enjoying the results. Please see our Facebook page for more photos. Budding Saturday: I Walk Alone

Cat walking on wharf in rural NewfoundlandAnother Saturday, another beautiful from Newfoundland photographer Bud Vincent. This shot looks appropriately chilly for the season.

This weekend we are in Clarenville for  ‘Eat the Hills’ in Clarenville.  We are representing the Legendary Coasts of Eastern Newfoundland and Labrador Destination Management Organization (I’m the Vice Chair).  The Berry and I plan to have fun, illuminating weekend – I’ll keep you posted!

Budding Saturday: My Turn

Woods and Trees at our Newfoundland resort and innOK, no doubt I’m not up to the standards set by Newfoundland photographer Bud Vincent, whose work I often showcase on the blog, but for our Saturday island photography post, here’s some shots I took at The Doctor’s House over the Christmas holiday. Of course, we had much more snow then. It inspired the photographer in me!

Remember, we love featuring your Newfoundland photography on the blog, and we love it when guests share their shots of our cottages and The Doctor’s House. So if you have some great ones to share, please don’t be shy!Forest at our Newfoundland inn and resort

Sunset Sunday: The Right Tools

Newfoundland photography

My phone crashed and I’m glad it did – because it ‘forced’ me to get the new Windows 47 megapixel. This is the first photo I captured on it, straight out of the box without knowing how best to use the features. I’m excited to learn the how to use it better – imagine the sunset shots over Shag Rock I’ll be able to capture soon enough!

Budding Saturday: Love Birds

Wild Birds in NewfoundlandOK, so I’m not sure if these are actually love birds, or what else they might be. But at least they’re a pair, sticking out the harsh weather together. Quite symbolic! Thanks to Bud Vincent, a brilliant Newfoundland photographer, for sharing – we share lots of his work on this blog, because he does such a fantastic job showcasing this beautiful province of ours.

And if you’d like to warm up with your own lovebird this winter, remember that we’ve extended our Spa and Stay Packages at The Doctor’s House, and we’re also offering a winter special: from January to March, book one night, and get the second for only $99.

Sunset Sunday: Snowy Owl, Again

Snowy Owl at Cape SpearYesterday I shared pictures from new friend and Shag It artist, Leonard Howlett, of a beautiful snowy owl at Cape Spear. This one takes my breath away, so it seemed like a good fit for Sunset Sunday. I hope everyone is enjoying themselves as we gear up for the most wonderful time of the year, and that we all have moments of connecting to nature, even when the weather is fighting against us. God bless.
