Reflections

Sunset in NewfoundlandI am a sunset connoisseur, and here in Trinity Bay we have the best sunsets I have ever seen. And I have a secret – sometimes is it not about sun gazing or the incredible afterglows and afterimages.  It is about the reflections and the flow-through.

Like I recently witnessed with this magical sunset and its magnetic afterglow.  Look at how it lights up the orchid and its flowers.  It takes them from beautiful to that higher level of pure radiance.

Sunsets like this are good for the eyes – and good for the soul. And given that our season at The Doctor’s House officially kicks off tomorrow, we need all the relaxing moments we can get – we’re not going to get many over the next few months!

Cruise Ship WWW

Whiteway Newfoundland

I blog a lot about sunsets. Not enough about our beautiful sunrises here in Newfoundland. Because in early morning as the sun climbs over Whiteway Mountain and shines on Shag Rock I take my pew in front of the big window and look out the bay.  Ever grateful for having found this place of places.

Sometimes, looking out over the bay, I feel like I am on some great cruise as I hear the waves and see only the ocean stretch in front of me.  Although I have not left the shore it feels that I am on some great journey. And I’m happy to share this view with the 4 cabins besides me.

I was never one to be tied up in some safe harbour – it has always been the high seas for me.  Where this Cruise Ship WWW will take me I know not.  We’ve had our share of storms with no doubt many more to come.  For mine is not to rest but to explore and find new things trying to find myself. Anchors away!

Little Boat Across the Harbour

Newfoundland boat across the Atlantic Ocean

I just saw a little boat go across the harbour on a rainy, foggy morning, and I was drawn to yesteryear. At least for the time being, we here ‘around the bay’ are living in the past, present, and future – a rare trinity. It seems so fitting to live in Trinity Bay: an hour from St. John’s – a million miles from everywhere.

I lived long and gone far and seen my fair share of the world. Now I live in the trinity of my life right here in Trinity Bay. In the quiet of a rainy, foggy morning – it doesn’t get much better than this!
