Sunset Sunday: Twillingate

Sunste in Twillingate NewfoundlandBeautiful sunsets here in Mexico (maybe I’ll share a photo next week!), but nothing like home. Here’s my daughter enjoying the view in Twillingate, on a family trip a few years ago. All that sea and sky – so many similar vistas in our beautiful province. Happy Sunday!

Sunset Sunday from Bud!

Newfoundland photographyJust because we’re on our way to Mexico, doesn’t mean our thoughts don’t constantly turn to Newfoundland! Here’s a gorgeous near sunset-scene, captured by our good friend and amazing photographer Bud Vincent. Here’s a cheers to the setting sun, wherever you may be this Sunday!

Fall Rainbow

Tree at The Doctor's House It’s been windy here lately, but the leaves are holding tight. We’re enjoying the fall rainbow, with deep beautiful colours ranging from burgundy to red to gold to yellow to green.  It’s a time of celebration – and not only because today is Laurelyn’s birthday. We have a fun evening planned, of course, and will surely make time to enjoy a quiet sunset, too. We love this magical place.

Aaahhh

Newfoundland SunsetHow can you enjoy views like this and not be grateful to be a Newfoundlander? This of course was taken at our property at The Doctor’s House, where we’re busily preparing for Alice’s Tea Party (are you coming? remember – it’s free to the public, but if you want a sit-down tea, there’s charge and please make a reservation), plus a wedding show and more this weekend. We’re also excited to get The Berry back, who has been enjoying some much-deserved downtime with her family. Evening like this make it all worth it – the view’s enough to make you go, ‘aaahhh.’

Another Beauty

view of the ocean from our newfoundland hotelIt never gets old! Here’s a beautiful shot of the sun setting over Green’s Harbour. We always recommend that our guests come down to the waterfront at The Doctor’s House. There’s a great view from their rooms, of course, but there’s also nothing like getting up close and personal. Happy Sunday.

Sunset Sunday: Enjoying the Long Weekend!

Sunset at our Newfoundland resortHere’s a quick post to say that we hope you’re enjoying your long weekend. Here’s a beautiful sunset over beautiful Green’s Harbour at The beautiful Doctor’s House. We’ve been busy this weekend (weekends are always busy – and that’s a very good thing!), and we also have some really great Fall Specials lined up. So here’s to a great (and busy) fall!

Sunset Sunday: Bev’s View

Sun setting at our Newfoundland cottage rentalsBev, a fun, recent guest at The Doctor’s House, recently captured this beautiful image of the sun setting over Hopeall Bay. It’s quite stunning, and we’re glad that she shared it with us, so that we can share it with you! If you have any beautiful sunset shots of your own, we’d love it if you’d share with us!

Reason #4581 Why We Love Newfoundland – the Sunsets!

Sunsetting in Whiteway, NLWe’re partial to our views in Whiteway and Green’s Harbour, but if you live anywhere in Newfoundland or have visited, you know what we’re talking about. Maybe our weather isn’t always the greatest, maybe the skies not always the sunniest, but in all my world travels, I’ve never seen sunsets, with all the the illuminescent colours, like what we get here. Even artists have never fully captured the beauty, because they’re beyond picture-perfect. We’re truly blessed!

Sunset Sunday – Thanks, Cate

Sunset in rural NewfoundlandThanks are in order to Shag It Cafe Executive Chef Cate Dore for sharing all her beautiful photos of our Whiteway view on our Facebook page. An Ontarian, clearly she is enchanted by our Newfoundland sunsets as much as we are – please follow us on Facebook to see more of her shots.

But of course, bigger thanks are in order for all the hard work she puts into the Shag It – it’s been paying off and then some. Her fresh salads are a hit – as is the rest of her ‘real food’ menu. We’re now open Thursday through Monday, with a Senior’s Discount of 10% Fridays and Mondays, so we know she’s working hard. Since we’re new to the restaurant business, we feel truly blessed to have such experienced hands in the kitchen!
