Often Sundays I share pictures of the sun setting over beautiful Shag Rock. Thanks to Joe, today I can share one of the sun setting over the beautiful Doctor’s House. Of course, the tourism industry picks up dramatically in the summer, but we stay open all winter, offering a unique opportunity for warmth and romance (don’t forget, we have a Valentine’s Special coming up, plus spa specials all winter long). In our experience, people need to get away and take time for themselves all year round. I hope you’re taking time for yourself today.
Sunset Sunday: The Right Tools
My phone crashed and I’m glad it did – because it ‘forced’ me to get the new Windows 47 megapixel. This is the first photo I captured on it, straight out of the box without knowing how best to use the features. I’m excited to learn the how to use it better – imagine the sunset shots over Shag Rock I’ll be able to capture soon enough!
Shag Rock Sunday
It’s the first weekend of the New Year, and Shag Rock stands as proud as ever. I know many people will be heading back to work tomorrow after a long break – I hope your holiday was fantastic. I also hope that 2014 will be a great year for us all. And I hope to never lose sight of this beauty, which has brought me so much solace and contemplation these past years since moving to the Wonderful World of Whiteway.
Sunset Sunday: Peaceful
We had plans to go into St. John’s this weekend, but our work (and, our desire to spend a warm weekend at home) kept us back. Thankfully. Nothing like a sunset in Whiteway to soothe the senses, relax, and provide all the energy we need as we head to the holidays.
We’ll be at the Carboner Mall today from 12-5pm if you’re interested in a gift certificate for The Doctor’s House for your loved ones. Happy Sunday.
Sunset Sunday: Thanks Again, Bud
This blog really wouldn’t be what it is without our friend Bud Vincent sharing so many of his pictures with us. He’s an amazing photographer, and his work showcases the beauty and brilliance of this province in a way I never could. I love sunsets – they’re my muse – and I love sharing pictures of them. But never have I seen one captured so brilliantly as above. So here’s a question: anyone know where this image was taken?
Sunset Sunday: After the Storm
We’ve had some wet and wild weather lately. I love a good storm. Partly because of the calm that spreads over the land after. Like it did when I captured this picture on Friday. Lucky us in Newfoundland.
Yesterday was a good day at the opening of The Ivory Suite (we donated a door prize). We’re also enjoying ramping up our dining offerings at The Doctor’s House. And I’m sure tomorrow you’ll take a moment as I will to remember all the sacrifices of so many, and how lucky we are to live in this beautiful, free country. God bless.
Sunset Sunday: Pretty in Pink
Sunset Sunday: Thank You, Leonard!
Ocean Delight Sunset
Ocean Delight Sunsets – falling in love with this view is what started us on this journey, with Ocean Delight, The Doctor’s House, now the Shag It Cafe and Gift Shop. How can you see this and not fall in love, not figure out a way to spend more time here?
Sunset Sunday: A Guest’s View
This beauty of a shot was captured by our guests Mike and Gloria. We loved having them, and, as they shared with us, they loved being here. Happy guests are what make this job so worthwhile. That, and our beautiful sunsets.
