Thanks For Staying With Us!

We like to send followup emails to guests after they stay at the cottages, thanking them for choosing us. Sometimes we get great responses, like this recent one from Bethany and John: “We really enjoyed spending our wedding night at the Loon. It was so quiet and peaceful….and the cabin was cozy and clean. We would highly recommend the cabin to anyone who wants to get away for a relaxing holiday.”

So like they say on Reading Rainbow – we know the Loon and all our Heart’s Delight cottages are great for relaxing, but don’t take our word for it!

Thanks, Tasha!

Forgive me if I’m tooting our own horn a bit, but I had to share these beautiful photos and beautiful comments from the beautiful Tasha, who stayed with us this weekend. We’re thrilled when we meet ‘kindred spirit’ guests and of course are even more thrilled when they enjoy themselves as much as we want them to. Here’s what Tasha had to say about her time with us:

“Stayed here this weekend. I have to say the owners/co-workers were so wonderful. I loved the puppys (Murphy and Friday♥ ). We Will all be back, i can’t wait. The place is stunning and wonderful to wake up in and go out to smell the fresh ocean. Would love to recommend this to all my friends!”

As you can see, they stayed in the Cranberry honeymoon cottage, our A-frame, two-story and two-bedroom beauty. We’re so happy they enjoyed themselves, and hope to see them back soon!

We’d be lying if we said we didn’t love a great review (who doesn’t?), and lately we’ve been blessed with some online love. Seems only fitting that we use our own online space to thank our reviewers! Here’s what we’ve been reading lately:

One of our recent guests, Julie, writes a compelling blog about her journey and life raising a child with special needs. She and her husband recently enjoyed a little getaway at The Doctor’s House, and they shared their thoughts, and their incredibly stunning photos, in this great piece. West Jet Magazine

West Jet Magazine recently ran a piece called “Eight Stops Along Newfoundland’s Baccalieu Trail,” and guess who made the list? Why the Shag It Cafe and Gift Shop, naturally! Looks like they particularly enjoyed our hearty chowders, fresh bread and sandwiches, and of course, that famous view.

So The Doctor’s House and Shag It Cafe got some love – what about our good, old cottages? Thanks to Vacay.ca writer, Michelle Hopkins, Ocean Delight wasn’t left out either! She recently wrote about her tour of the Avalon Peninsula, which we’re happy to stay included a stop at our Blueberry. She loved the ‘charming, country-style cottage,’ and seems to have loved the Wonderful World of Whiteway as much as we do. Another great read if you’re looking for things to do in the area.

Friday Gets Some Loving From Some Repeat Guests!

So this might be our favourite picture of the summer. It’s from Barry, Elizabeth, Maggie and Sara, getting in some cuddle time with Friday, our golden retriever and self-appointed Ocean Delight ambassador. They’ve stayed here before, and we’ve had a nice time reconnecting with this lovely family. Clearly, so has Friday!

Actually, all our guests staying with us this week are repeat offenders – they’ve all been guests before. Which is so great – it lets us know that we’re doing our job right, and, better yet, it’s always nice to see familiar faces. Especially, in Friday’s case, when those familiar faces are dog-lovers!

Family Friday

Weather-wise, it hasn’t been the best summer here in Newfoundland. But for me personally, it’s been quite sunny. That’s because I’ve enjoyed not one but two visits from my daughters in the past few months – a real treat, given all three of my daughters currently live off-island. This is my oldest, Adrienne, who just spend a few days out here at the cottages and The Doctor’s House. She brought her boyfriend, Russ, and it’s been great to get to know him, too (he’s also been screeched in – I’ll post more about that next week!). For now, I’m just basking in the glow of a pleasant couple days with the best possible company, and looking forward to some more precious time before they head back home.

It’s for fans and friends who live close enough to be able to take advantage of last minute deals and specials at The Doctor’s House. And we’ve just rolled out our first special – this weekend only (Friday and Saturday nights), we’re offering all available rooms at The Doctor’s House for $99 (plus tax and gratuities). It’s first come, first serve – so Club Members got the leg up this morning!

The Doctor’s Last Minute Club!

The Doctor’s House opens today, and we’ve got a fun way to kick off our season. We tend to book up quickly, but last minute cancellations can and do happen. And since we’re only an hour outside St. John’s, we know lots of locals would love to come out here to the Bacalieu Trail more often.

New Spring Specials at the Cottages!

The Berry’s Ocean Delight specials have become quite popular – we’re happy that lots of guests really enjoyed our Stay In ‘N’ Stay Warm package this past winter. So now, in honour of the first day of Spring, The Berry is at it again: introducing the Spring Relax and Refresh.

Our new Spring special features noon checkout, plus a fun snack basket upon arrival, filled with magazines, movies, popcorn and treats. We’ll also provide firewood for your outdoor fire pit, and propane for your personal BBQ – perhaps it’s time to have your first barbeque of the year!
