A little birdie told us – after all this weather, we’re in for a great spring. At least it will be if you come join us at the cottages! That’s why we’re excited to roll out our Spring Specials. All April and May, stay at any of our cottages and receive a complementary snack and movie basket and bottle of house wine. Or, take advantage our nearby sister property The Doctor’s House and add some luxurious spa packages to you stay. After this winter, you deserve it!
Nothing calms me and fills me up like watching the sun set over the ocean. It’s why I’ll always be grateful The Berry and I made the move to the Wonderful World of Whiteway – we have front row seats every night for our own personal showing. On a clear night, with the sun reflecting on the sometimes still waters of the harbour – it’s pure magic.
We like to share beautiful Newfoundland photography when we can (we try our best to get great shots, but we’re not artists!). Thanks to our neighbour at The Doctor’s House, Paul Seymour, for sharing this gorgeous shot of our ponies enjoying their lunch and a sunny day. And have a great weekend!
We’d like to take a break from our usually happy blogging to say goodbye to Molly, our sweet Devon Rex who passed away yesterday morning. We never had her as a kitten, as you see above – we hope that she enjoyed her adult years with us. She we beloved by all of us, including our goldens, and by everyone who met her. She was a rare creature and she will be missed.
If you have pets, you know how they become a part of your family. Below is how we’ll remember her.

No matter what the weather does now, at least we can say it’s Spring! And with all the sunshine that’s bound to come our way, we’ve just announced our new Summer Special. More proof of the glorious beauty here on the Baccalieu Trail. Here’s Salmon Cove, about a half an hour from our cottages. It’s a gorgeous spot for a day trip, winter or summer. We enjoyed a gorgeous afternoon here last week. There’s nothing quite like the Newfoundland shoreline!
Here’s some shots from a rare afternoon off, when The Berry and I went for a drive to Salmon Cove, goldens in tow. Less than a half hour drive from the cottages, it’s quite the spot! It has a beautiful park, sandy beaches, beautiful scenery, a great trail and the perfect spot for picnics – summer is going to be great!
The dogs loved the beach and water, met new friends and played to exhaustion. And we were refreshed, pulled back from the brink of exhaustion, and reminded again of how lucky we are to live on the beautiful Baccalieu Trail. In preparation for our upcoming first wedding season at The Doctor’s House, we’ve been getting to know future brides and grooms at some local wedding shows – and having lots of fun doing it. We’ve been drawing for a Spa and Stay Package – meaning, after each show, one lucky winner receives a a free one-night stay with complimentary bottle of wine, plus breakfast for two and two Aveda spa services (this package is available to all guests who request it – check it out!).

There’s lots of great fishing holes around our cottages and The Doctor’s House – stay with us, and we’ll give you a map to our favourite spots!
