It hasn’t been our best summer weather-wise in Newfoundland this year, but thanks-be-to-goodness we are now in growing season. We have some beautiful greenhouses, but it’s time for those sheltered plants to have their day in the sun. Here’s Barb wheeling another load to be planted by The Guest House (where our Ladies’ Retreat package is still available, by the way). I think that old adage rings true – better late than never!
Good Til the Last Drip
As Newfoundland photographer Bud Vincent says, ‘ya gotta love the wintertime.’ And we mostly agree – although today, we’re taking advantage of the slow winter season and heading to Mexico for a few weeks. We’ve shown you how beautiful the Wonderful World of Whiteway gets in the winter, so we’ll definitely be missing out on some charms – but we hope to come back refreshed and ready for another busy Spring!
Thanks again to Bud, from Holingside Images, for the great shot! And stay tuned to the blog – a few thousand miles won’t keep us from blogging! We’re hoping to get more active on our Pinterst account, too, to stay tuned!
Rain, Rain, Doesn’t Have to Go Away!
We love how the beautiful Danielle and Christian embraced the little rain that fell during the recent wedding ceremony at The Doctor’s House – with grace and humour, naturally! Of course, we always have alternatives available for inclement weather, so they had an equally nice indoor option to run to when the rains started to fall. What a gorgeous day. To see all the pictures from their gorgeous wedding, please see here, and enjoy your Sunday!
Beautiful Day
Think back for a minute to that long, dreary, never-ending winter we someone got though this year. Remember the coldest, wettest, snowiest, sludgiest day, shoveling your car out for hours before making the arduous trek into the office. There – if possible, we just made you appreciate summer a little more, didn’t we? Happy Sunday!
Sunset Sunday: Purple Enough?
Like Icebergs?
Then you’ll love the Wonderful World of Whiteway! Thankfully, our cottages, both in Whiteway and Heart’s Delight, are right on the ocean. Meaning, your back window is better than tv, now that bergs are back! You might spot a whale or two, too. And lots of seabirds. There’s nothing like being right water – don’t settle for anything less! And thanks to Stephen Jones for the beautiful photo.
Gorgeous Green’s Harbour
Last Sunday we shared a picture of the sun setting in Green’s Harbour, and it’s such a beautiful sight out here we had to share one again. The Berry and I have recently moved to The Doctor’s Study, a sweet little home at The Doctor’s House, for the remainder of the summer. We’re less than a 5 minute drive from the cottages (making weekend trips to the Shag It easy!), and we’re enjoying the new surroundings – although we do miss being right on the ocean’s edge, of course. These sunsets though, prove that wherever you are in the province, you’re in for a treat at dusk!
The Icebergs are Coming!
Iceberg season is in full swing! Thanks to our friend and neighbour Albert Legge for this beautiful photo, taken in front of our ocean front cottages in Heart’s Delight. We love being right on the water – the view is always amazing. And the only thing that can make the view better? Icebergs, of course!
Sunday Greetings
Sunday greetings, everyone! Jerry is away visiting his daughters in British Columbia, enjoying some sunshine and some much needed R&R. In the meantime, here’s a shot from The Doctor’s House in winter, to remind us that things are going to start looking beautiful here really soon. Jerry brought great weather with him to B.C. – and maybe he’ll bring some back with him when he gets home next week!
Enjoy Bay Roberts This Summer!
We love giving our guests recommendations for fun things to do while they spend time at our cottages. Thankfully, here on the Baccalieu Trail, that’s pretty easy! Especially with towns like Bay Roberts just a short trip away, there’s always something fun going on to explore.
Coming up soon in May, Bay Roberts will be hosting their popular ‘Songs, Stages and Seafood Festival,’ a great opportunity to enjoy Newfoundland culture and cuisine. They’ve got a car show coming up, too, and more. Please see all their offerings here, keeping in mind that coupled with some of our Spring Specials, a fun, family weekend away might be in your near future!
