Sweet Praise from a Sweet Bride

Saltscapes MagazineLook what our lovely bride Danielle recently emailed us. It’s a copy of an interview she did in Saltscapes Magazine, talking about her gorgeous wedding last summer at The Doctor’s House.  We loved having her and her wonderful family and groom, and we’re happy to see that they enjoyed themselves too! But don’t take our word for it:

“There is something so genuine and sincere about the property. When we drove there the first time and rounded the turn to see the white fences with the Newfoundland ponies, the beautiful trees and flowers giving the land all sorts of colours, and then met Rosie the goat, I was sold ….. The barn is every ‘rustic-chic bride’s’ dream. It truly is. They kept the integrity of the structure and accented it with beautiful drapes to lead into the room and stunning chandeliers … Without decorating at all it creates a perfect backdrop.”

A Bright Shining Sun for Susan and Scott

The day after their wedding – rain. The day of their wedding – blue skies ahead! Newfoundland couple married at our newfoundland hotelSusan recently shared these lovely photos, taken by Farell Cahill Photography. We’ll be sharing more on Facebook and Pinterest, so be sure to follow us there. And thanks again to Susan and Scott, for sharing their day with us, and congratulations once more!

And Another Happy Couple!

Wedding at our Newfoundland hotelWhen it rains, it pours, and we’ve had several brides share their stunning wedding photos with us lately. Here’s Samantha and Chris, who got married this past August. Samantha’s parents live just down the road from us – it’s always nice to meet our neighbours! Samantha also works in the tourism industry, and told us The Doctor’s House is the most beautiful place she’s ever seen (we’re blushing, but we concur!).

Wedding couple at our Newfoundland hotelSo thanks again to Samantha for sharing these gorgeous photos, and for sharing a part of your special day with us. Congratulations, and we wish you all the best!

Beautiful Wedding Photos from Alex Stead

Blog page with wedding photosWe’re pretty committed to blogging, and we love when we pop up on other blogs, too! So we were quite happy to see this article on photographer Alex Stead’s page. It highlights the stunning photos she captured, from the stunning wedding, between the stunning Laura and Mike. It was truly a lovely day, and clearly, Alex knows her way around a camera! Please take a peak if you’re considering a trip to The Doctor’s House, and especially if you’re thinking about booking your wedding here!

A Congratulations Are in Order!

We’re always thrilled when we’re included in such special moments (and check out that ring!). We wish Danielle and Justin all the happiness in the world and the best of luck on their journey to marriage – and we hope to see them again soon! (And, did you see that ring!).

Thanks to Danielle for sharing her beautiful photos and story – we love getting feedback! Here’s what she told us on our Facebook page: “Was so happy with our stay the other night. what an amazing place, great animals who you can tell are so very loved, such cheery friendly people, and great food. But the lasting memory will always be getting engaged in your barn !! thanks for everything.”

To which we say a hearty thank you, and a hearty you’re welcome, too!

Rain, Rain, Doesn’t Have to Go Away!

Wedding at our Newfoundland resortWe love how the beautiful Danielle and Christian embraced the little rain that fell during the recent wedding ceremony at The Doctor’s House – with grace and humour, naturally! Of course, we always have alternatives available for inclement weather, so they had an equally nice indoor option to run to when the rains started to fall. What a gorgeous day. To see all the pictures from their gorgeous wedding, please see here, and enjoy your Sunday!

Congratulations, Victoria and Patrick!

Talk About Customer Service

Trucking in chairs for weddings at our St. John's wedding destinationMaybe it takes a village to raise children, but it took a village too to be able to pull off our first wedding last weekend, which went swimmingly with lots of oohs and ahhhs (stay tuned for pics!). Not only did our staff go above and beyond (like always) – we had lots of extra help along the way, too.

So here’s Paul of Nuline Trucking. Look up ‘customer service’ and ‘nice guy’ in the dictionary and no doubt, his picture is there. He delivered the beautiful white chairs that we needed for our reception, shipped from the US. Only thing is, because of a hold-up in customes, the chairs weren’t set to be delivered until two days after our wedding date – uh-oh.

When our staff realized the potential SNAFU, they called Paul and told him our desperate story.  And, although he was off and relaxing after a month on the road, he volunteered to hop in his truck right away and come over.  He even helped us unload them off the truck, along with Wendell George of Home Hardware, another truly stand-up guy.

We don’t really have words to thank these men, but we couldn’t have held our wedding without them. We know they made our lucky bride and groom – and lucky us – quite happy. So thanks, thanks, thanks again to Paul and Wendell!
