Keep It Simple

Wedding cake at the doctor's HouseWeddings at The Doctor’s House have really taken off this season, and we’ve witnessed some truly awe-inspiring events. Our couples, often working with decorators, are able to take the natural beauty of the place and enhance it in some really inspiring ways.

And what we’ve learned from all the weddings we’ve seen? At least when it comes to weddings here, keeping it simple is often your best bet. Many brides opt for the ‘rustic chic’ feel, to match our barn loft and wooded property. And that simple, rustic look is so beautiful, even when it’s pared down. Like this cake, from Hedi and Dave‘s wedding. Certainly not the gaudy wedding cake from my generation, but so perfect and on point.

Congrats to Another Happy Couple

Beautiful BrideWow – hard to believe that the wedding season is winding down. Especially since we keep having such beautiful weddings! Congratulations, again, to Amanda and Jon. Your love for each other is so apparent and strong, that we know you’ve set yourselves up for a truly wonderful marriage and life together. All the best – and thanks to our wedding coordinator, Lindsay, for getting these sweep ‘snaps!’

If a picture is worth a thousand words, how much is a video worth? Clearly, in this beautiful example, a video is truly priceless.

Here’s Tin Bird Production‘s recent work, featuring Robin and Paul’s wedding. It was a beautiful day, a beautiful wedding, and a truly beautiful couple – and this video captures it all perfectly. Thanks to Tin Bird for sharing, and to Robin and Paul for sharing their day with us. We wish you all the blessings and good fortune possible on your new journey together!

And Congratulations, Nicole and Mark!

wedding couple at The Doctor's HouseA big, hearty congratulations (again!) to Nicole and Mark, who recently got married at The Doctor’s House. We’ve been blessed with dozens of couples this season, and I try my best to get some face time in with each one. I’m not always lucky enough to catch them right after their ceremony, though, like I did here.

This beautiful couple has family here in Newfoundland, and across the pond in the UK, so it was a diverse crowd, and a gorgeous day. We wish them all the best on their new journey together. If you’d like to see more photos, please see here!

One More Hurrah for Hedi and Dave

couple at the doctor's houseIt’s always a blessing when couples choose to get married at The Doctor’s House – it’s an honour we don’t take lightly. And we’re always doubly grateful when they share some of their stunning photos with us!

This is Dave and Hedi, who recently enjoyed a beautiful ceremony here with us. A beautiful couple, inside and out, we wish them all the best, and thank them for sharing this gorgeous photo, taken by Chad Sharpe. Talk about getting the right moment! (And talk about that dress!).

A Little R&R for the Big Day

wedding day massageYou’d expect some butterflies in your stomach the day before a wedding, so what better way to sooth them with a spa treatment beforehand? That’s what Hedi and her friends did this weekend, right before she got married to Dave in what turned out to be a beautiful (and big!) ceremony. Hedi and Dave are truly a wonderful couple, and we think she deserved every indulgence on her wedding day – don’t you??

We actually have some special spa deals for brides and grooms – you can find them here. And for some more pictures of our latest weddings, see here!

I Spy

Couple getting married at the doctor's houseI spy, with my little camera … Andrea and Jean Philippe!

Actually, it wasn’t me doing the spying here – it was Sam who caught this gorgeous photo, proving once again that while the very talented photographers who come to shoot our weddings get some stunning, stunning photos, you never know when that ‘magic’ shot will be caught with your cell phone!

We love this shot, and we loved this couple, and wish them so well on their journey together. And while I didn’t ‘spy’ this camera, I am spying lots of romance around here, with lots of weddings, and lots of couples coming out to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays and other milestones. I may be a romantic, but it warms my soul!

Wonderful World of Weddings

weddings at our newfoundland resortLong time readers of the blog will know that shortly after moving to run the cottages, we dubbed our new hometown the ‘Wonderful World of Whiteway,’ to pay homage to it’s delightful charm and many wonders (Shag Rock of course being one of them). Well, I think we’ll now have to dub Green’s Harbour, home of The Doctor’s House, the Wonderful World of Weddings. We’ve had lots this year already, with lots coming up over the coming days. Best wishes for all our lovely couples, of course, and stay tuned – I’ll be sharing more pictures over the coming days. Happy Saturday!

Lots of Weddings

Wedding HallSummer is upon us, and with it – lots of weddings. Love is in the ocean air, and we’re always thrilled whenever a couple decides to share their most important of occasions with us. Here’s The Doctor’s Barn Loft, outfitted for one such wedding last week (more this weekend!). The Barn Loft provides banquet seating for 100 to 200 guests or cocktail reception for up to 360. It’s got authentic barn board floors, traditional arched exposed beam ceiling, large windows and stunning views of Trinity Bay and rolling meadows – plus a walk out to the deck facing the ocean. I may be biased, but it’s one of my favourite spots at The Doctor’s House.

And it’s busy! Again, a big things to all Doctor’s House couples, and stay tuned for some great photos next week! And Happy Sunday!
